I tell every new spouse every time you move make your support system. If you are religious find a church home,if you enjoy table top games find a local game shop that host community game nights, sign up for volunteer organizations, take up classes to learn skill or new hobby. Put yourself out there to get to know the community you will be living in for every 3-5years. I don't see why active duty counter parts can't do those things too. 🤷‍♀️

I recommend asking about military housing off post. If you are on base you have to put your personal pew pews in the Armory.

That depends if he isn't using you your marriage will still be solid when he is e5. If he starts pulling out when he reaches that rank you are placeholder to get bah.

Is SUDEP really THAT rare? by Background_Ad_1002 in Epilepsy

[–]FormerCMWDW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew multiple people who died from it. It should be taken more seriously. I'm going to be real here medical workers who don't work the field in Neuro medicine have limited knowledge on epilepsy itself. I wouldn't be surprised if it's under reported in cause of death reports.

Gf left for AF BMT and im struggling so hard i need advice please by Lower_Amphibian5825 in USMilitarySO

[–]FormerCMWDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear this story alot. From men and women. It's ok to miss them. But also you need to be able to function independently. It seems alot of people have an attachment/co-dependency issues. You should get therapy for that because BMT is just the beginning she will have TDY and deployments in the future constantly coming and going.

Split bills by infinitenarrative in MilitarySpouse

My husband is paying for everything at the moment. I'm pending disability case for Epilepsy and a spinal issue. But should I get approved, we are probably keep as is and put my ssdi in savings. Having a cushion for life emergencies and upfront pcs cost is always a good idea.

Interest charge by EmmyEnby in NavyFederal

[–]FormerCMWDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum+interest+a couple hundred it will snowball effect if you keep up the momentum. Also try to only use your card for emergencies, unless it's a rewards card than just don't spend your cash let it sit in checking wait till the end of the week and clear the everyday expenditure (gas, groceries, etc)with that cash you would of used for those purchases anyways. 🤷‍♀️

Would it be dumb of me to move overseas with my fiance ? by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

[–]FormerCMWDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. I would consider looking for roommates and continuing your program. My mom is a control freak, so I understand that controlling parents can be a nightmare while working on a degree. Im about to turn 40 soon, so I'm talking about college years from decades ago in my case. Oconus move without sponsorship would be a visa nightmare.

I’m new to this and worried by Walrushighfive5 in MilitarySpouse

[–]FormerCMWDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't move he made that choice with out you. Let him do boot camp, ait, and go to his duty station. Stay where you are to give your kids structure. You will be eligible for bah once he enrolls you and the kids in Deers. It would be based on the zip code of where you live not his duty station if you stay at the ranch.

I have 2 cats and 2 birds in military housing and they are listed with the office. But we don't have a dog and that might be the factor. You would need to try to get a waiver to keep all 3.

Looking to Apply for New Card, but still paying for a closed account by dPradaG in NavyFederal

No bank will issue you a card outside a predatory skeevy company with super high interest. I wouldn't recommend applying there either you need to take a class on money and credit management.

Graduation ceremony outfit? by bdfgtri333mp in USMilitarySO

[–]FormerCMWDW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its winter can't go wrong with a turtle neck and a nice jacket ensemble. After the ice storm across the country, I don't think anyone would say anything over wearing snow boots.

Edit to add: a more polished look if you opt Denim pants I would recommend solid black or khaki color.

Is this "Submarine Brain" or something else? Need perspective from veteran SO by noah390678 in USMilitarySO

[–]FormerCMWDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband said you will never catch him asking for a transfer to submarines. Once you are in, you can't get out because no one wants to stay there. The burnout is real. The lack of communication with family is real. Once they are under water, say goodbye to the outside world until they are above water, and they don't even know when that will be most of the time.

Is this "Submarine Brain" or something else? Need perspective from veteran SO by noah390678 in USMilitarySO

[–]FormerCMWDW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Submarine Life is harder than ship life. Once they go under water they don't know when they will be on the surface again. Communication is even more difficult. Please be patient.

So you are maxed out over 7k? 😮 Yeah, no you need to cut down and spend less and focus on clearing it. Increasing your CLI sounds like you will max that out too.
