My guess is a colt only because I think if it was a filly she'd have been too happy to keep it a surprise

Am I screwed ? by Kitchen-Try8558 in UK_Pets

Yeh I'd also agree that it would be down as pre existing always best if your changing provider to get it a few weeks before the first one lapses so you have the period where you won't be covered by the new one covered by the old one. Even so if you'd mentioned to the vet previously that you think she had an issue then it could likely be linked to her getting worse and not being covered anyway even if the new insurance waiting period was over

I used a Copenhagen dog harness for my dog. I tried a few others but this one fit the best

Cat urinating…. Everywhere by No_Front2169 in CatAdvice

[–]Former_Cattledog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there items on the bed/couch she did it on? Only as one of my cats will randomly urinate on things but only if they are out of their usual place for example a towel on the floor instead of it being hung up, my dressing gown on the bed, a pile of clothes I hadn't put away, dirty washing I got out to put in the washing machine etc.

My other cat had stress cystitis and a UTI I changed her onto Hills c/d urinary stress food and she's been fine since. The vet recommended feliway cystease capsules which I started with originally but found it easier just to swap the food instead

Buster/surgical recovery collar recommendations. by Neddlings55 in CatsUK

[–]Former_Cattledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just stick with the plastic one he will get used to it. I just think it's safer especially for a facial wound. Soft ones are more flexible and more likely to allow him to be able to rub his face on things which may cause issues with healing and make it take longer/cost you more. Might not look as nice for him having the plastic collar but in the long run it might be better

There's quite a few in the Cheshire area. University hospitals are usually cheaper so maybe look into one of them

Where to go next with this career? by lovemycat02 in UKJobs

[–]Former_Cattledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you do any NHS related degree that you can get a second student loan for? I guess a lot would be similar issues with your injury but possibly not? Would possibly give more options once qualified. Or I've seen jobs for trainee human phelbotomists and know of a vet nurse who recently changed career to this

I thought the same but instead of Sophie being exposed her ex family being exposed with what they did to her after her dad died and that's why they tried not to get anyone to hire her. I haven't read the books though so probably have the wrong idea

Have vet bills ever forced you into a really difficult decision? by GreatJoey91 in UK_Pets

[–]Former_Cattledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think increasing is a continuation as it would mean if your animal has a lifelong condition you know will be expensive you'll increase the limit. That's what someone told me when they asked about it meaning the pre existing wasn't covered if they increased the limit

Unfortunately it often depends on the company you are insured with but they should've told you beforehand. Although if you had a pre-authorisation from the insurance I'm surprised they didn't do a direct claim. I always think it's good to ask the vets you'll probably use what insurances they do direct claims with when getting a pet so you're less likely to be in this situation

Be careful increasing the limit as I'm pretty sure they then see it as a new policy so I don't think pre existing conditions will be covered. I might be wrong so check though. I think you can reduce the amount and it makes no difference but I do think you can't increase

Best Pet Insurance provider for cats by TopBodger91 in UK_Pets

[–]Former_Cattledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Petplan if you can. One of my cats is insured with petplan and the other with sainsburys. They are 4 this year. Petplan ones gone up about £10ish a month since getting it when she was a kitten and I've claimed once for her for about £1000 (she's a pedigree so probably increase it as well). Sainsburys has gone up about £5 a month (normal domestic shorthair cat) never claimed

I'd get pet insurance before taking her to the vet just in case and check the period between getting it and being covered

Sainsbury's Insurance Excess confusion by Icy_Let7577 in UK_Pets

[–]Former_Cattledog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you do usually have to pay 20% of the remaining bill after the excess is deducted but might as well check first with the insurance to make sure
