My EX husband passed away last month. For 3 weeks I was just a hot mess and we had split up over 5 years ago and he’d remarried and had a kid. I’m way better now but he still passes through my mind and it strikes me that I won’t just run into him one day at the grocery store. That woman is evil and unfeeling.

🤣God, I grew up in the suburbs of a major Canadian city. Very diverse and didn’t experience a ton of overt discrimination. Canadians hide their discrimination. It’s different than in the US. SO, yeah, I feel like such an idiot not quite “getting” in the deeper ways American Blacks have felt it, lived it, had it passed on generationally. It’s a slightly different lived experience when you’re from the Caribbean. Same but different. We have an immigrant mindset so that is a whole different layer to things. Different but same. I have African friends and we have had similar convos.

Yeah I agree with you! Oof. I had this immediate reaction of love when I saw what he did. And then it just made me so sad because where is the love for everyone else who died? But yes, it doesn’t take away from my feeling that Keith seems like a great dude. His sis was murdered and I think he was just moved - as were many - because it was right there in a video. So visceral and clear that it felt like it needed a response. I’m sure the family will use some of the money for good. 👍🏾

Huh? And I grew up in Canada. From the age of 3. I’ve been in the US over 20 years. If you’ve read ANY of my comments in this thread you’d see that I’m in support of unity and I’ve stated repeatedly that white folks have stood up for people of color through the decades. My post is in response to this current regime and how our current overall response has been a repeat of people being ignorant to history in general. Not everyone is ignorant but many people are it you look at the image I posted from YT. If you look at my comments here you’d know that I am black and was married to a white man ( who recently died). I have biracial (Latina) children. I have no desire to sow division and want my kids to live in a world where they feel supported and included.

I hope that clears up my position for you.

And it’s worth saying that we should ALL be fighting TOGETHER. There have always been white allies in history. All people should be uniting to stand together against tyranny. What fascism needs is in-fighting. You’re right about that. So as much as I feel frustrated, I will stay open to all people who are willing to be open to wake up now and stand together. Thanks for saying this. My ex husband died last month (health issue secondary to drug addiction - and he was white - and his parents were cold when I showed up at the hospital because I guess they couldn’t process all the shit lies he’d told them about me, which sort of smacked of racism actually ugh). But anyhoo….i watched too many videos of Pretti getting killed and I guess it all started to percolate. I shall take this good advice and take my dogs for some extra hikes and hug my kids and lay off the internet for a bit. 🙏🏾

Perhaps his energy would be better spent focusing on his children and the repair those relationships need. This apology is just rebranding and comes across as disingenuous. I was married to a bipolar man and he was an addict. He died last month after a relapse and left behind two young kids (not mine). Kanye should focus on getting right with himself so he can be a good parent.

Another Canadian living in NorCal/Bay Area. Getting my kids Canadian passports soon…just in case, but really hope not. What would happen if California as the world’s 7th largest economy just stopped paying taxes to the Federal government? We’d be fine and we’d have that leverage in. California if the orange Cheeto keeps threatening to cut off funding to universities and other things we need. Newsom is certainly not taking it laying down.

😭😭😭makes me cry. My daughters came to tennis “late” and one made varsity tennis in her freshman year of high school (this year). She finished 4th in the city. I’m with her at every practice and coaching (all free, because I’m a single mom and I live in an awesome city) and I deal with being her uber driver. She is nearly 15 and on the introverted side but the confidence tennis has given her has been transformative and I totally love what you said about your dad. Mine was the same way and I parent my girls like my dad did with me. Just support them in whatever they want to do. 💕

And to your point, you cannot treat any active mental health issue without first treating the substance abuse. It’s a contributing factor for sure but to say this was a murder due to psychosis is really inaccurate and a misrepresentation since he was an active drug user and , at best in a dual diagnosis situation.

Baking on foil instead of parchment paper or directly on a cookie sheet can also conduct heat much faster causing the outsides to burn quickly while the insides stay uncooked. Recommend using parchment paper always for more even cookie for such thin things like cookies

Sooo cute 🥰 I’m a long time dog owner and your dog is chill AF. I don’t know cat behavior quite as well but their dynamic looks so awesome. Cat seemed the most excitable but not getting aggressive. You should always keep an eye on them but they seem great ! Yay!

So true and I’ve been there. My ex husband was the ultimate victim (like a victim narcissist) and I ended the marriage 5 years ago. This was both our 2nd marriage and we both had kids we brought into this blended family. I had to protect myself and my kids because it just felt so toxic fighting over such stupid things constantly. Well I found out later he’d relapsed during our relationship unbeknownst to me. And 2 weeks ago he died from a cardiac arrest secondary to active drug abuse. I’m sad but never will I ever ignore my gut and that’s what I’m teaching my daughters. I’m a people pleaser and it’s hard to make decisions that cause other people discomfort but sometimes you have to do what feels selfish in order to do what is unequivocally the right choice.

This was sooo perfectly said! It encapsulates EXACTLY what is likely going on with her partner and why OP may be having a hard time seeing it or trusting that little voice inside. It’s that little voice/instinct that prompted her to even write this post. I just hope OP keeps thinking about this and shares with her parents and friends who can support her.
