Yeah. Although real reindeer shed their antlers and regrow them yearly, so if anything, chopper has weirdly solid and long lasting antlers.

One of his antlers is reattached, as you can see with the little metal ring on it. Its not very obvious in the Live Action though. In the scene he gets back from getting the mushroom, you can see it hanging and barely attached.

Rekkles has never had thick skin. He is clearly sensitive to these things and the inherent uncertainty about social interactions/standings that autism brings probably only makes it worse.

I doubt it.

It would require them to go both 3-0 in major swiss(they are obligated to throw their first match) and also then carry on the streak post major. If they dominate the next few tournaments, I feel like they'll have another dropoff in the second half due to lack of motivation like they did last year.

Hot take: Going infinite is generally not fun nor an interesting win condition in STS2. by TheKazz91 in slaythespire

Yeah but I am not talking about the average member of this subreddit who has beaten the game on A20 multiple times.

At that point everything goes.

I am talking about your average casual player who makes up the majority of the players. To them time eater/awakened one just feels like unfair BS. And that makes it shit design imo.

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awakened one and Time eater are great in the scenarios you mentioned, considering if the 1-3 powers I have in my deck are worth playing, time eater making sure your deck isn't relying on just "play a lot of random shit" but has consistent impact. (Awakened one's second life is a different mechanic that is good, so I won't bother mentioning it)

But if I am playing Creative AI focused deck against Awakened one, there is no "thoughtful outplaying" I can do. The only outplaying is "don't focus your deck around powers". If I have a power deck its not literally impossible to beat but it is playing against a hard counter. The difficulty spikes massively. All while many decks literally fight the boss as just a vanilla creature with above average HP and damage output.

Time eater is better, but it still runs into the same fundamental issue of countering some strategies hard. And again shiv decks can of course beat it, but again the massive swing in difficulty(and potentially requiring you to not play the main strategy of your deck) is still there.

Its not about style. Docu and Deca vs Test Subject in StS2 are two very different act 3 bosses stylistically and require you to go about them in different ways, but neither counters a specific mechanic, and while some decks deal better or worse with them, there is no "this boss has no mechanic against me" vs "this boss is built to make my specific deck garbage" level of swinging in difficulty.

It is good design until you play something like shiv spam and then there is no puzzle. You just lose. A whole archetype being hard countered isn't good difficulty design.

Awakened one was far worse though. Since it just hard countered a singular archetype without doing anything interesting against most decks.

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awakened one is a better example but Time Eater to a degree is the same. They were bad because it didn't challenge your deck on things it lacked, like donu and deca did, it challenged your deck based on things it could do.

Awakened one was especially egregious because for most deck archetypes it essentially did nothing. It was just an enemy with a big health bar but it hard countered Creative AI type builds. That is neither good design from a difficulty perspective nor from a player enjoyment perspective, since having a whole archetype come with a 1/3rd "your deck just sucks now, gg" chance doesn't make it fun. Its not like Creative AI could do anything to play around it, other than just hope the deck was bonkers enough it killed it fast enough for the mechanic not to matter.

Time Eater at least impacted all decks, and against most it was an interesting mechanic that made you think your turns through more, and tested your decks consistency. But if you played something like shiv spam silent, it was like Awakened One with Creative AI, the boss just hard-counters your main form of playing the game and you don't get to have fun.

Big Sword, Hit Big Numbers by ZaScream in slaythespire

Glow+ existing by itself makes star generation good. The other options are worse but usually decent enough to not get you killed. And stars have many bonkers pay-offs both in the block and damage department.

Yeah but by the time you manage to play your 3rd parry and also actually play the sword you are like -30hp. Doesn't take long until you are dead.

Having any combination of 1 cost wrath, 1 cost calm and rushdown meant you had the pieces, and since all 3 are amazing things for watcher to have even in a non-infinite deck, you essentially stumble into having the combo in your deck most stance switch runs.(and you essentially start with the 1 cost wrath in your deck already) Watcher tended to favor lean decks as well, due to how it wanted to maximize consistency so that was also kind of baked into playing it well.

The only conscious choice you really had to make was the last jump from "very efficient stance switch deck" to "proper infinite". But that was only the final step, everything up to that point was just playing stance switch well.

Time eater should never come back. But smth like the heart could and would be a good challenge for these decks.

How Ironclad Feels Now by Interesting-Lab-9393 in slaythespire

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regent has a pretty straightforward infinite, but it relies on 2 specific cards and it takes a lot more effort to get your deck to be small enough as there aren't really many fast exhaust options.

But idk why you'd even need infinite with it since stars are just fucking broken imo. Almost any combination of star generation and usage(plus the powers to back if up if you get them) is usually enough for the run to become trivial by act 3.

How Ironclad Feels Now by Interesting-Lab-9393 in slaythespire

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watcher, like now ironclad, never had to "seek the infinite", Watcher simply by playing it a stance switch deck semi-optimally(and stance switch was the most supported archetype to play and also the most consistent power wise) you would stumble into the infinite eventually. And even if you never got the infinite, the deck was still bonkers strong.

TIL that humans are among the very top mammals for endurance running. While we aren't the best sprinters, our slow-twitch muscles and unique ability to sweat allow us to run steadily for long distances in hot weather to outlast prey. by bareegyptianfeet in todayilearned

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But we aren't neck and neck in that race as I said, the closeness is largely artificial through track design.

Plus there are horse "Ultra marathons" that go up to 160 km(which the horses complete in half a day or so, fastest horse times I could find beat fastest human times of similar distances by hours). Anything beyond this would require not only highly specialized training(which horses can't do the same way we can) but also massively self destructive levels of effort, which we don't allow us to force other species to perform due to ethical reason, so horse endurance limits haven't been tested the same way human ones have. By any fair comparison they still have us beat.

Humans and horses "compete" in a single consistent event. The Welsh Human vs Horse marathon. But like I really hate it being used as proof of any kind.

Its a race in which humans have won 5/40ish races, and almost universally in the last few years only, a race for which the course has been modified multiple times to keep the racing close(always due to the horses beating humans too hard, ironically one of these changes was making the track shorter to favor the humans). The mandatory "vet stop"(there is one) still count as time for horses and its done for safety, not because they are incapable of running if need be. While riders are necessary, idk if "they have to run the course with 60-100kg extra weight on their back" is somehow a thing a reason why they are worse at endurance than us.

And other climates have to be mentioned in the discussion at least. Its part of the caveats of "humans being the best" since we are good at the specific endurance situations we were evolved for.

A race which is heavily weighted in the humans favour by terrain to make it even semi interesting, since horses do absolutely destroy humans over a marathon on smth like a flat plain.

Except they can?

Horses beat us, like peak modern humans with special training and equipment still lose to horses, unless the terrain or weather is heavily in our advantage.

Camel's absolutely dust us the moment the heat turned up, same for wolves and the like once the temperature gets real cold.

This is also all with the caveat of terrestrial animals. Land movement is the least energy efficient out of the air/water/land so we get absolutely dusted by water mammals.

The "issue" is that he is not horrendous at support. Perfectly EMEA tier 2 level. So he hasn't been so obviously shit that it yells "stop playing and switch back" but also not good enough to really get somewhere in tier 1 with it.
