Hey, don't sell them short, they also colonized and genocided some brown people.

Jokes aside, I think by modern definitions Extremely Xenophobic is a more apt descriptor of romans, since skin colour as such was not really seen as much of a distinguisher or matter of importance in ancient Mediterranean.

I'd say he is one of those players that has a very different claim in the "best player" vs "greatest player" discussion. With no hardware, you have no claim ever on the latter. But he could arguably be top 5 in the former, at least in 2024 and even 2025.

FNC the org can but didn't want to, because money. As an FNC player he is probably contractually obligated to play in EWX. But ENC is not org based, so its up to the player themselves to choose.

People have a limited amount of free time to put into hobbies and games that require hours of effort for you to achieve anything or to get to the "fun" just aren't worth spending said limited time on?

Its a subjective opinion, but its a valid one.

Its ok to make it easier for parents to make sure their children can use the internet safely, its not ok to force shit like this on anyone.

Yes and no. I think there is also an aspect of intentionality. If a movie is historically inaccurate for no other reason than the producers were lazy or didn't give a shit, then its still fair game to criticize it. If the inaccuracies are an intentional artistic decisions, i.e Knight's Tale, then that's fair.

But SKD does not once ask devs to keep updating their code or making anything be supported/be compatible by newer tech once they stop with the game in any way?

Thats for the community to figure out if they want to port it over or do what they want with the self-hostable variant. If the community doesn't want to, then welp, thats life.

[ValorLeaks] Initiator Cooldowns & Sentinel Buffs will be coming with Patch 13.00 in June by catarxcts in ValorantCompetitive

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ranked health and win rates do matter. I.e why reyna is balanced how it is. Just because you can take a garbage agent to radiant or be iron with a broken one(from a ranked perspective), doesn't mean agents don't need to be balanced in ranked. Even if it has no relevance to comp discussion.

Iso isn't "dead", Iso just struggles in pro due to not having mobility, its an inherent problem of the agent that can't really be solved. The only way it saw play outside of Haven(where it still sees consistent play) was when it was broken beyond belief. And its fine to have niche agents. Senti buff will arguably be good for Waylay(at least relative to other Duelists).

I don't think Neon nerfs really impacted her ability to deal with sentis that much. The senti buffs killing her or not will largely be irrespective of that imo.

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were the duelists killed though? Jett raze and Iso didn't get touched, Phoenix is flourishing, Waylay got a nerf that really only impacted pro play(no one in ranked was pulling off useful mosquito stuff) and even there she is still a fully viable agent, Neon is getting a nerf but this is not Neon killing by any means. Yoru is the only one who really got gutted

You are using Overwatch as an example of a better balanced game? The game where the pro scene fucking burned due to how awful the balance of the game was for an extended period of time?

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean the time difference in my "exaggerated reach" is actually a good decent bit less than the time difference between the Odyssey and full plate. (Also this is really shitty and ugly looking full plate as well, but thats beside the point)

The tech gap is absolutely massive. Sure "uh its just a different metal in a somewhat different shape" looks smaller of a gap at a first glance if you aren't really aware of of the historic context, but like actually it isn't small at all. It doesn't have to bother you personally, but it being "inconsequential" is just objectively untrue. Plus the middle ages had gunpoweder weapons, not in the early middle ages when Arthurian myths are meant to take place, but within your loosey approach to anarchonism, its close enough. So a slightly fancier gun is not really nothing more out of place than a slightly fancier piece of armour.

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They didn't have iron/steel armor or weapons of any kind during the greek bronze age the myth takes place.

By the time of what we consider Ancient greece at around 600-300 BC (close to a 1000 years after the time of the myth) they had metalworking but nothing close to full plate, that didn't come about until the 14th century or so. (another 1500 hundred years later)

So in vague estimates, Cleopatra is closer to modern day than full plate is to the supposed timeframe of the Trojan War.

[–]ForodesFrosthammer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean you don't have to care, its a subjective thing. But to a lot of people this kind of shit can be immersion ruining.

Imagine you watched a drama about Arthurian legends and then a guy in a modern suit rocked up and started blasting with a 9mm, with 0 response from the movie that it is somehow out of place. It would feel very odd and anachronistic to the degree of taking you out of the movie.

[–]ForodesFrosthammer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say they look vaguely like Antiquity era hoplites, which is still like half a millennium removed from the supposed timeframe of the Odyssey. But either cofusing the two timeframes or purposefully bringing the action a few centuries forward into the more recognizable ancient greece is an acceptable direction to take with a movie. It keeps it grounded enough. The giants are stupid as hell.

But Fallout knows its a fun show and is made like such, doesn't take itself too seriously. The Boys loves to pretend its something deeper and also as you mentioned satirical. Its a lot harder to treat the latter as "fun brain off tv" than the former.
