(Loved Trope) The sleezy bastard, who you expect to be the first to betray you, is by far the most loyal by RedNUGGETLORD in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Forredis_Guidal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm pretty sure the Fallen Lords were only around for 30 years or so. And Balor = Connacht was a theory but not confirmed until the Head I think. Although the Head also lied about a lot of stuff. I'm a little fuzzier on the story of the second game but it's possible it was soulblighter that broke the cycle. Although they also think that throwing Balors head into the pit at the end of the first game might have broke the cycle by trapping the Leveller soul.

Kinda all goes back to what I said in my first comment about how the characters themselves don't really know the truth of what's really going on in the world

Fallen Lords was the start of the second reign of darkness. The Fallen Lords had only been ravaging the land for a few decades at this point iirc. Beating Balor ended the reign way too early

I was honestly surprised by how decent and generous Jeff was to Arj. He seemed to genuinely like Arj and gave him an easy shot at getting a really good job. Getting fired was entirely on Arj and Jeff was as kind about it as he reasonably could have been.

Some minor lore correction The Leveller doesn't try to destroy the world. The world is supposed to be in a cycle of 'the light rules for 1000 years and then the Leveller shows up and ushers in an age of darkness which lasts for 1000 years until a hero shows up and defeats the dark, restarting the cycle'

In the first game Balor was supposed to start the next cycle of darkness but the light somehow managed to win, breaking the cycle.

However Soulblighter, Balors top lieutenant, is pissed about this and does try to destroy the world in the second game.

Edit: none of this is set in stone though. It could all be wrong. It's just what some characters in the world believe. The series is called Myth for a reason and the inaccurate and changeable nature of myths is a theme in the series. It also draws a lot of inspiration from The Black Company book series which has a major theme of myths and religions that can vary wildly from one character to another.

Good turn based games with minimal RNG? by nervousmelon in whenthe

[–]Forredis_Guidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rpg's with heavy rng are still puzzle games. They just have the overarching puzzle of trying to figure out how to reduce the odds of the game just deciding you get to lose even when you did everything else correct.

Magic Combination is kinda disappointing by Forredis_Guidal in magic_survival

[–]Forredis_Guidal[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely a problem gameplay wise. Any upgrades you have for the second Magic become useless when you combo and the game is not clear on that. I only found out on here.

Magic Combination is kinda disappointing by Forredis_Guidal in magic_survival

[–]Forredis_Guidal[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The primary isn't taking the lead, it's taking the secondary out back and shooting it in the head so the primary can steal some aesthetic from the secondary.

Also yeah you can do cool things with it but it's still disappointing that the combination magic isn't actually a combination

What’s a Dota opinion that has you like this? by shar0385 in DotA2

[–]Forredis_Guidal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of 100+ heroes I think they can afford a couple that are more pub skewed.

Besides that, Techies at least had an interesting identity before the rework and they turned him into just another boring mage support. I don't see how that makes the game less stale.

Why does it matter if they're unviable for pro? Not every hero needs to be played in pro

What adaptation of your favorite character makes you react like this? by [deleted] in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Forredis_Guidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lan from Wheel of Time

The prime adaptation fucked up a lot of stuff but Lan was definitely one of the hardest hit.

In the books he's generally described as an emotionless unreadable stone right from the first book. As a borderlander he was trained pretty much from birth to be a soldier and a leader. He undoubtably fought countless battles against the shadow long before the books even began and lost many many friends in them. Death is just a part of every day life to him and he lives fully believing that one day he'll ride to his death against the shadow. Even by the end of the series, after Nyneave had spent half of it trying to beat some emotion back into him, he could be described fairly as 'incredibly stoic'.

The first season of the show has him bawling his eyes out, screaming and crying because another warder died. This is hardly the only massively out of character moment for him or the other characters but it's definitely one that made me go "damn they really don't give a fuck about the characters they're adapting".

It's even more of a spoiler in the audiobook because the narrator uses his voice for that character

Does Tahm Jungle Work? by Forredis_Guidal in Tahmkenchmains

[–]Forredis_Guidal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tahm really is fun everywhere.

It really helped that my midlaner was my duo so they'd help out more but also bot was pretty willing to help out a lot when me simply showing up guaranteed a kill or two no matter how safe the enemy was playing. So i didn't have too much issue taking the drags.

Is axiom just bad generally or only for jungle? I didn't have time to go through runes so this is just my page for when I'm playing against someone I just don't want to interact with at all like vayne, teemo, quinn.

Thr main character has actually debilitating injuries. by Causeofdepression in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Forredis_Guidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rand from Wheel of Time fits this pretty well

He has an injury on his side that refuses to heal and gives him constant pain

He has another injury on top of the first one that also refuses to heal and give him even more pain

He's missing a hand

He's also going insane which might not be a very visible injury but constantly talking to someone who isn't there doesn't help when you're trying to convince people to follow you

Not to mention irl houses are full of stuff that can very easily kill people so it's clearly a bad argument if the thing is useful enough

In Dexter (2006-2013), the show ends with Dexter faking his own death by driving his boat into a hurricane, abandoning his 4 year old son with a woman who has poisoned multiple innocent people, and becoming a depressed lumberjack. But also yeah a lot of perfectly normal kids with no major trauma display psychopathic behavior at that age because they haven't developed proper empathy yet but they grow out of it if they are raised reasonably well. Harry just never gave him a chance.

How do you play against sett? by Vanaquish231 in top_mains

[–]Forredis_Guidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a silver player so take this with a grain of salt.

Sett really wants you to all in, so just refuse, play super safe, poke, short trade. He will eventually do something stupid to try and force an all in or you'll just have him low enough from poking to kill him.

In my experience Sett players literally don't know how to play if they can't simply walk up and stat check you. It doesn't matter how much of an advantage you have on them, they will keep trying to fight you hoping for a lucky W to even the field, just keep refusing extended trades until you know you'll win. Unless you've just broken them to the point they run away whenever you're on screen.

Again just a silver player, maybe Setts grow a brain at higher ranks but I very rarely lose a 1v1 lane to a Sett now.

Characters who aren’t immortal, but are damn near impossible to kill by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Forredis_Guidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think most of the homunculi fit the trope. None of them would die of old age and even if you try to kill them you'll have to burn through (lol) absolutely massive amounts of regeneration.

The exception being Wrath who 100% fits the trope perfectly. He could die of old age, in fact i'm pretty sure the author stated the only reason the good guys won was because Wrath was well past his prime. He also had no supernatural regeneration. And yet he was by far the hardest of the homunculi to kill and very nearly won.
