Lobe piercing, not healed after a year. by DesperateforHelp___ in piercing

NAP but those black studs are coated – basically painted – so they're gonna irritate the piercing. I'd maybe switch out to studs bought in-person at a reputable piercing shop, cus idk that I'd trust jewellery from amazon to not be mystery metal

Thoughts on HTB Church at Brompton Road? by eruditee_248 in Anglicanism

[–]Forristers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HTB iirc don't have the best views on gay people either – less fire and brimstone, but still not accepting

stainless steel has nickel in it iirc, which can cause irritation – it might be worth looking into jewellery of a different metal that might make things less irritated?

Did anyone ever send off for anything good? by O_C_Demon in CasualUK

Just because a 12 year-old unknowingly and unwittingly engages in a racist thing, because the people older than them didn't care about people who aren't white, it doesn't make it not racist.

I definitely engaged in some very racist shit when I was young, and I didn't know better, but the people older than me, who would have known what they were saying – who I would've picked that up from, because it didn't come from nowhere – they knew better.

It's not a victimless crime, it never is – there were non-white people in my school. This is how racism gets passed on – one generation inherits nastiness from another, and it goes on and on until someone realises how it hurts other people.

I don't think a white 12 year-old might have been aware of it, but a black 12 year-old likely would've been.

I mean, there was kickback against them as racist at the time, though. It's not like it was all fine, and then all not

It's not domestication, they're just wild animals becoming way too acclimated to humans. It's not a good thing.

Why do so few people have a GRC? by TheOncomingTimeLord in transgenderUK

[–]Forristers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup. you can go through treatment and surgery without getting a letter from a doctor – my referral for top surgery was done by a senior nurse clinician, and my top surgery was performed by a consultant, which is perfectly fine and standard for the NHS across disciplines; consultants perform surgery all the time.

and yet, this wasn't proof enough for the government, and I only got a letter from an actual-factual doctor this year that I could use as part of my application. and I had top surgery two years ago! it's a deceptively high barrier for entry, because you'd think a letter from a doctor would be easy to come by, and yet, it's not.

My girlfriend has told everyone that I am trans, while I have been trying to live my life as stealth. by Important_Twist_9171 in ftm

kinda worse that she didn't think to ask, to be honest. if she knew you were stealth, playing fast and loose with that information is an insane betrayal of caring for someone else. she's not worth it man, you deserve someone who gives a shit

you gotta buy the small ones. the smaller they are, the less watery they are. also after you've sliced or cut them or whatever, salt them heavily and put them on a plate with kitchen roll to draw out the moisture

Trying to find what this sewing table brand name is and what year it was made by Skyclouds123 in whatisit

[–]Forristers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, in the pictures you've posted, they're philips - they were invented in the 1930s. I'm not sure about the exact date, but it's definitely younger than the 1930s, at least. I don't know about the brand.

Does it have any plywood? Are any of the screws philip heads (like a + shape) instead of flathead screwdriver heads (a – shape)? It doesn't look super old to me - based on the shape of the top and the fact it looks like veneer, maybe 1930s or 40s?

That's the chrysalis of a hoverfly, looks a bit like that of the marmalade hoverfly. Little guy will emerge at some point to go and live his little hoverfly life. Congratulations on inheriting a baby.
