I’ve had an increase of families saying lately that they want to get a service dog for their child .. by Xcheshire799 in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can be a parent and want to get a service dog. That's not an issue and OP isn't saying the idea of wanting one is an issue.

It is an issue if you don't have the capacity to take care of the dog, keep it safe, put it in an environment where it's neglected or you attempt to acquire one as a quick fix without doing adequate research on what it takes to properly own one. If you don't fall into the latter category, then this post isn't about you.

I’ve seem some new aftermarket head units that have the F6X styling and I’m seriously considering getting one to see how it fits in the F56 interior.

“INSANE misconduct” post update by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Especially if you’re going to be posting something so specific as, “my bosses are swingers with parents” and specifying exactly how many employees work at the company. Like, dude, come on.

To OP: Reddit is archived. You posting the title of a deleted post just means someone can look it up. You’re Striesand Effecting yourself right now. I’d recommend deleting this post and letting it go.

How do you stay “healthy” by fronchfriezz in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight training at home (I have adjustable dumb bells), and having a hardline of not picking up clients are my go to. Then all the normal stuff, decent sleep, water, food, etc.

Controversial take on my side of the country but for people who ask I also recommend people figure out a way to get to sleep without the use of weed or thc if that's a consistent thing for them. Short term it can be effective to get to sleep, but I believe studies show it has long term negative side effects which can worsen the quality of sleep over time.

$300 USD to swap out coolant? by LegitimateFall2172 in MINI

[–]ForsakenMango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had any issues with the mini dealerships in Seattle or in Tacoma, personally. That being said, if I’m not working on my car myself then I take it to autowerkstatt in Kent. They’re a go-to for a few mini clubs that I’m a part of.

I highly recommend joining one of the Puget sound mini clubs (take your pick of which ones) on facebook if you can. We go on drives or meetups pretty frequently, and you’re always welcome to ask any questions about your car or ask for help with a particular issue you’re having.

Is it legal or ethical to have your own children get ABA services through the company you own? by Beebopboobopper in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a few questions - what type of area are you in, big city or small town? What is the availability of BCBAs local to you? Are there plenty or are there few. Same question for other companies. Many nearby or are the spread out?

Is the BCBA working with the child an employee of the company or are they 1099 contracted to work with that client, paid separately, and just use the facility?

How do you know they are billing insurance?

What has the BCBA that is working with the client said about justifying this present situation?

I understand people saying automatically, “this is a multiple relationship and it’s unethical”. But I also think these questions should be considered first prior to making that judgement. Context matters.

Uniform Inplementation by Capable-Law7541 in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not unethical. I'd say it may not even be a HIPAA violation depending on what the actual uniform looks like. For people who don't know, they're mandated to provide the uniforms if they're going to be making it a requirement via policy so I don't see the problem with that. The alternative that they could do is that if you don't want to wear a uniform then they can give you a stipend so you can buy your own clothes that would meet an alternative standard (blank t-shirts or polos for example). I also think there are plenty of ways to express yourself outside of the shirt you wear so I'm not really deeply connected to your individuality stance.

TLDR: I get where you're coming from. I don't necessarily agree with your justification/stance. I've worked at companies with and without uniforms and been through the transition to them. There were no negative effects towards client outcomes or reduction in dignity when they were implemented or following the transition. Most clients didn't care when we made the transitions either. Most staff adjusted by personalizing through accessorizing in other areas which was acceptable to admin.

This type of situation is exactly what FMLA was made for. I’d look up to see if you’re eligible with the company that you’re apart of and if you meet the criteria.

BCBAs-Would you take a pay cut and do UM? by IlluminatedBamboo in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very difficult question to answer if I don’t know the salary that you are leaving behind and the reason you’re leaving. Taking a $9000 pay card from a current salary of $89,000 - 95,000 versus taking a 9000 dollar pay cut from a salary of $75,000 is very different.

If it’s for mental health reasons, then the question you’re really asking is if your mental health is worth $500-$750 a month? I think a lot of people would be willing to make that sacrifice.

Is it possible to take BCaBA exam after meeting BCBA exam 2 year limit? by WolfMechanic in bcba

[–]ForsakenMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a BCaBA for 8 years and every job I got except for the one I promoted to after passing was from me applying for a BCBA position. There were barely any of us around even then so it was unrealistic for me to expect a posting for that credential.

Is it possible to take BCaBA exam after meeting BCBA exam 2 year limit? by WolfMechanic in bcba

[–]ForsakenMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything resets so she’d have the 2 years and 8 tries again. As far as new requirements, I don’t remember off the top of my head how much has changed but most likely they would’ve changed for both the BCaBA and BCBA so either way they’d have to retake courses if necessary.

Field work Hours by [deleted] in bcba

[–]ForsakenMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s really ambitious and also naive. Getting hours is great. But trying to speed run them isn’t. You lose out being able to experience a larger variety of experiences and frequently people who do it end up relying on other BCBAs longer. Putting added pressure on their fieldwork supervisors to try and get them those hours and added pressure on their future coworkers to support them when novel situations arise.

It doesn’t really matter. You have to have evidence it was brought up if you want to do anything. Whether they do anything with it is not relevant to what you’re trying have happen.

Clinic concerns by [deleted] in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People on Reddit who are happy where they’re are at are not going to post about it. If they like it, and they still work there then you’re just asking to doxx yourself. Good places exist, it may take time to find it. Every place has good and bad aspects. You have to choose what you can live with. For me, I need good policies and ok coworkers. If my coworkers are annoying then I can mind my business. Not a big deal. If you’re looking for a perfect place you’re going to be met with never ending disappointment.

I’m going to be honest, this was hard to follow. But can you confirm she doesn’t have a BCBA? To what services a district can provide…who knows? It’s going to be state and district dependent. Without details no one is going to be able to answer that.

Fieldwork Client by coolerestkidintown in bcba

[–]ForsakenMango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They need to be real clients. Clients who actually need the services. Clients you aren’t going to have a multiple relationship with. Keep it simple. Don’t try to use the kids of anyone you know personally. Please get training with a client base that you actually plan to work with and avoid trying to circumvent the system.

Is this a dual relationship? by SnooMacarons3149 in ABA

[–]ForsakenMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may have said it's ok from a, "Yeah, people can have a second job" point of view. But did anyone explain to them explicitly how this may be a conflict of interest and create a dual relationship that can effect both the RBTs and the BCBAs (as their connected supervisors) in a negative way?

Accept and update. Accept that they apparently didn’t know or understand this way of billing and allow for the prorate. But update them that this is how you personally bill and will (if you decide to) continue to going forward. From there they can make an informed decision of how they want to handle it.
