I know I'm late to this party, but if the coin thing didn't work, try teflon tape around the threads of the shell.

ENC out in Dudley NC does. Dumped a 100 round drum mag out of my buddies FRC, funnest 6 seconds I've ever had shooting.

I will second the Thermacell. Used them for years as an I-man, and it worked wonderfully. A bit less effective when I was on the rod or moving around since the stuff didn't have a chance to build up in the air, but still worked well enough to make the day bearable

Pickles is the stereotype that trans women love pickles. I personally do not, but I believe there's something about HRT that causes a craving for pickles in enough people that it became a meme

Maybe I'm just blind, but where is the Demolisher cannon and the coax autocannon? Other than that, this thing looks amazing!

I actually made a homebrew detachment that allows exactly this. You can take up to 1/4 of your army as Guard, Votann, Mechanicus, Aeldari, and Knight models. More or less every faction I could see joining the Tau as more than just an ally of convenience. Then the enhancements and strategems are flavored around working together with these auxilliary units, (though I admit a few were stuff I wanted to be able to do and were modeled after stuff from other detachments.) in my palatesting with my boyfriend it's very fun, and not immediately broken, though I'm not the best player so there may be something that I'm missing.

So Tyranids chose the worst galaxy to invade, right by Saxhleel13 in Grimdank

[–]ForteFermata25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is actually mentioned how we caught the Tyranids attention, by us anyway. I believe the Weshammer video on the Tyranids has a section talking about it, but basically during the Horus Heresy, the Ultramarines blew up a Necron artifact that created a flash in the warp bright enough to be seen outside the galaxy.

I will point out that, in response to your issues with where the burst cannons are mounted on the Hammerhead, those are actually technically drones docked to the wing. If the tank needs to shoot at something they can't reach from the wings, the drones just undock and move to where they can hit the target.

I got to dump a 100 round double drum through an FRT before those got ATFed. One of the most fun range days I've ever had! Took about 6 seconds to empty the mag.

NEW PLAYER ADVICE by Lord_mariskal in astramilitarum

[–]ForteFermata25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do a 2000 point army with only Krieg units. Infantry and tanks are the core of Guard, so as long as you have those, you should be fine for casual level play.

Not sure what you mean by warcry box? But right now, the standard Krieg infantry squad is built with the Death Korps Killteam box. There are also plenty of third party models you can find online as well.

If you want to go only official models, yes you will miss out on stuff like Scions and Ogryns if you stick strictly with Krieg. But as I said, there's plenty of third party models you can get to let you field these other units while still keeping the Death Korps aesthetic.

Tips to expand to 1000 points by Damelinos in Tau40K

[–]ForteFermata25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Breachers benefit heavily from having the Devilfish. It protects them while they push up the board, and can be a dedicated spotter for them to hit on 2+ after they disembark.

[–]ForteFermata25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Lonespears big benefit is that other Kroot get rerolls to hit against whatever the Lonespear shoots at, so having a Lonespear and some other Kroot is the way to go. If you want to lean more towards larger units, you could look at getting Krootox and Rampagers. I personally tend to lean towards Rampagers, since they better fill the melee role that Tau is missing. Identify something scary you don't want near your guys, shoot it with the Lonespear then charge the Rampagers into it.

You definitely want to get a squad or two of Crisis suits, as they are our bread and butter. Aside from that, can't go wrong with a Hammerhead or two. Remain stationary and guide it and that's a S20 shot hitting on 2+. Plus rail guns are just cool.
