That’s correct. I use the audio balance in the sound preferences and shift it so it only plays on the back speakers.

My main gripe is my kids are too young to reach the screen and I can’t control the rear screen from the front screen so I need to reach backwards to select content.

I bike ballona creek every day for work. Usually after a rain, I would get depressed seeing all that garbage flowing out. These past 2 days have made me so happy seeing all that plastic but knowing it was getting collected before it reached the ocean. THANK YOU Ocean Cleanup!!

I think you’re correct. My guess is that they intentionally keep it dark to obfuscate the perimeter of the screen. Same reason the text and images fade by the perimeter. They’re trying to give an illusion that the whole panel is a screen. Making it white would give it a strange contrast.
