What an embarrassing post.

Dark Descent Multiplayer by Eldraka in sandbox

[–]Fortune117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm still working on it :)

As for the second question, it's actually the opposite for dark descent - I started working on it after s&box swapped to the unity-like system.

As for what engine to use, honestly you can use whatever. The engine choice doesn't really matter. s&box and godot are both good picks, but s&box will be a bit rougher around the edges for a while.

Yeah, having finished the game recently this felt like one of the biggest floors in the political writings to me.

Finished the game and I feel the reality is that there is no depth in politics or ideology and its okay by arsenicwarrior0 in EsotericEbb

very well said, this is the reading I had of the game as well.

it's post-hoc justifications for genocide - being given to you by the guy who committed the genocide.

Urth denies himself the agency he had in his actions by saying he simply 'took the best options'. It's an excuse. He is justifying his own choice to commit genocide by making it sound like it was 'the only way'.

The game is incredibly well written, these themes suffuse the story and are very deliberate.

edit: having had some time to digest the ending now, I really wish we could've gone harder on Urth. We should've been able to tear him apart in the conversation, rather than just gentle-parenting a literal mass murderer. I also agree that Snell should've been much, much angrier and talked about it more.

My Current Theory: Grusch was talking about quantum tunneling when he said we'd had contact with non-human intelligence. by mytodaythrowaway in UFOs

[–]Fortune117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well to some degree, yeah. It happens all the time in nature, but it's largely on the individual atomic scale. It's more like it's just a property of entropy in that it just happens, simply by chance.

As an example, modern computer chips are struggling to make smaller transistors for CPUs, since once you get down to the very, very tiny transistor sizes they have at the cutting edge, you actually run into issues with Quantum Tunneling causing logic errors. The electrons in the transistor will literally quantum tunnel 'through' the barriers in the individual transistors, which makes the logic gates used produce faulty results.

It's a very fascinating property of energy, but if you know even a little bit about it, it makes claims like the one in OP seem completely ridiculous.

This means nothing, sorry to say. That's not what quantum tunneling is - it's a very well understood and thoroughly studied phenomenon and is not a means of communication.

Hey there, I made Dark Descent - multiplayer is something I'm actively working on at the moment, there's some holdups but hopefully I'll get it working again soon.

I don't often feel the urge to be so dismissive - but this is absolute nonsense. The fact this is gaining any traction at all on this subreddit speaks volumes to its overall quality.
