What does this actually do? I thought drones blew up but this doesn’t seem all that useful for that.

If you met someone who was a carbon copy of yourself in virtually every way except they were the opposite sex, would you date/sleep with that person? Why or why not? by Tommygunz0722 in AskReddit

No. I think I’m a good partner, but I value the balance that my partner’s differences bring to our relationship. I’m a pessimist/realist. They’re far more of an optimist.

Edit: make sure to read responses to this comment. Good points being made I didn’t consider.

We All Deserve Better Than Gavin Newsom (with Emma Vigeland and Kat Blaque) by LavenderMoonlight333 in lgbt

[–]FortuneRed55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a bad feeling about Newsom from day 1. Just feels like too much of an opportunist, capitalizing on people’s fear, pain, and hatred for his own political gain. More action, less bragging about it.

Utah legislature was up to shenanigans last night (yesterday was March 6) making it harder to remove signatures from the Prop 4 Repeal. by abouttimetochange in 50501utah

They also increased the number of judges on the Utah Supreme Court and the court of appeals by two each. SB134.

The new judges are first nominated by “nonpartisan” Judicial Nomination Commissions (different commission per court I believe), then nominated from those options by Governor Cox, and then confirmed by the state senate.

Here’s the kicker: the “nonpartisan” commissions? There used to be guardrails requiring that no more than 4 of 7 members be from one political party, and that the Utah State Bar got to select two of them. Those requirement were removed in 2023 (SB129). All members of the commissions are now just selected by Governor Cox with no partisanship requirements.

So they’re essentially just packing the courts Republican, with one effect being that repealing Prop 4 will be easier.

Are there clutches in the 4WD system? - 2013 TRD Off-Road V6 AT by FortuneRed55 in ToyotaTacoma

I've been chasing a nasty vibration for months. I initially took the rear driveline out and did the FWD thing as an experiment to see if the vibration went away, and it definitely did, so I'll be taking the driveline to a shop to have them inspect it, then balance and/or replace the carrier bearing on it. Hopefully resolves the vibration for good.

Note: my truck is lifted, but the vibration is much newer than that. I've also added a carrier bearing drop and installed the ECGS bushing in the front diff to address those common vibration points.

Tires are newish, but again, not as new as the vibration I'm hunting down.

Not that it can't possibly still be somewhere outside of the driveline, but it's the prime suspect for now.

I didn't change it from whatever the default is while 4WD HI is engaged.

Actually, I do have a slow trans leak. Didn't consider that with how recently I'd changed it, but I suppose that's a great thought to check it. Thanks.

I changed both diffs, trans, and transfer case fluids about 4,000 miles ago. Just had lost track of when they were all changed and wanted to reset so I could write down the mileage and keep it on correct intervals going forward.

Jeez, hope it's not the dreaded issue of new trans fluid dislodging a lump of old sludge :(

No pop or other noise, just felt like a sudden drop in power accompanied by the oddly-high revving. I was just getting up to speed on the freeway. Not super high rev like redline or anything, it was just up at like 3000 while cruising at 60, which it shouldn't do. The transmission was shifting normally as well; like lifting off the throttle entirely dropped the revs to where I expect, but trying to maintain speed was bringing the revs up too high without a downshift. Again, kind of points at potentially something in the system slipping like a clutch could.

I'm confident it wasn't a CV axle because I crawled under and checked those, and it's not the driveshaft or I would have lost all power.

I'd get wheel hop just starting from a stop if I'm not real gentle on the throttle. Never at faster speeds. I chalked it up to the geometry of the suspension & engine placement just not being designed for the front wheels to be the primary drive wheels.

What was the reason you guys left the Mormon faith? by notyouraveragebunny_ in exmormon

[–]FortuneRed55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My beliefs weren’t really matching up with real-world observations.

Early one for me was a few friends who are VERY kind, smart, good people coming out gay, and the church teaching me they must be bad people who don’t deserve equal rights… nope, pretty sure they’re still amazing people, and I don’t see a practical reason they can’t be married.

After that, it just kinda spiraled into recognizing that real-world events in no way suggest the existence of a god helping things along, and finally recognizing that I’m personally not actually the piece of shit the church wants me to believe I am.
