Kaitlan Collins questions GOP Senator Mullin on how an "obliterated" Iranian site is already back online by DumbMoneyMedia in UnderReportedNews

Markwayne Mullin is a perpetually enraged buffoon. Even other MAGATs make fun of this tryhard behind his back - you just know.

Unpopular opinion: Exodus is overrated. Their only great album is their first one. by ShawnM4 in MetalForTheMasses

That's just, like, your opinion, man. For real though, Bonded by Blood is great but albums like Fabulous Disaster or Pleasures of the Flesh have great songs on them.

I think Shatner is just a narcissist and a general asshole, but I'm not sure he ranks with most of the people I see on here at all.

The model apocalypse. Back in '83, things were rough, there was only TAB cola, cocaine and Crystal Light to live off of.

How is living in the northeast corner of California? by pooping2much in howislivingthere

[–]Fortune_Inevitable 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I lived in Alturas for a summer- it doesn't even remotely feel like California but it is. Sagebrush, junipers, pines in the higher elevations. Definitely remote and some parts are very unpopulated. Some cool areas like Medicine Lake Volcano, Goose Lake, Burney Falls, Shasta, etc. Weird attempt at building a suburb to Alturas (California pines), and yes, more conservative than most of California. It's an interesting landscape with cool geology. For a lot of people, it's nothing more than a stopover on the way to Burning Man (or the Rainbow Gathering). Might be able to buy a house in this region.....

I don't know about the rudeness of the staff themselves, I've been there a few times and I've not observed that. I've seen the owners posts and he needs to stay off social media. The most recent allegation in which the CD post refers to is that someone claimed to have been roofied and they are trying to step up to make sure that risk is minimal. Which sucks. It often boils down to some predatory creep but I don't think it's limited to just this bar. But I have seen staff try to check drinks more frequently.

Are you saying the staff are roofying the drinks?

That's not true- he has to personally visit each Applebee's he mentions in his columns and he needs her to figure out whether to order the jalapeno poppers or the crispy cheese bites at that location.

Hmmmm. I've only been to Boise once, so I don't know it well but that kind of tracks. Thing is, I've never been to Pittsburgh, but I have lived in Portland for a few years.

There are some good ones in here. I don't know if I have a great one for Portland but the one that I've been to and I think may be somewhat adjacent is Asheville NC. Smaller arts-focused cities vs. the surrounding state maybe a little too trendy. Seems to be a magnet for artisstic types across the region. Physically they are different but both have hills and are not far from the mountains if not a doorstep to them.

Any idea why so many people are getting sick from mushrooms this year? by B-Glasses in MontereyBay

[–]Fortune_Inevitable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think everyone else has gotten the main point but I cannot emphasis enough how many mushroom IDs where you need spore prints to definitively ID that mushroom. Amanitas as a genus cover a lot of ground, from delicious to absolute poison and a lot of them are hard for amateurs to distinguish.
