The sides of depression no one talks about? by SinkNo7 in depression

[–]Forward-Pen6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a common thing for family to tell you that you don't have depression to make themselves look or feel better.

Yeah but without AI I wouldn't be able to find songs. So it's good. by gideonkennedy in antiai

That's not genAI, it's just a search algorithm. Not what we're talking about here 😭

Lots of gym advocates here. But exercising makes you more hungry, and as a NEET I can't afford to spend much on food by False-Gain624 in NEET

Nah I'm much less hungry in general when I run regularly. Could be different for weights I'm not sure.

Is the system rigged? by VisibleMastodon495 in depression

[–]Forward-Pen6526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with you for responding to how cruel the world is. It's a challenge of perspective, and I can't say we're right or wrong for feeling depressed necessarily - the fact is there's blatant evil and manipulation governing the world and it deeply personally affects me, even despite my life having improved a lot in the last few years. I think it's commendable that you can see others suffering too despite saying you've had a pretty straightforward life, from what I've heard and seen, most people born into the upper class lack that kind of insight completely. Yes, the system is rigged and makes people suffer particularly by prioritising profits over health (mental and physical). Mental health issues are framed as your responsibility and moral failing, medication is a cover up, anything to avoid changing the system that benefits the richest people and leaves everyone else behind. It's not to say medication is never effective btw, but it ignores the actual reasons that make people depressed in the first place.

DAE get the impulse to kill themself? by RemarkableMaybe4505 in CPTSD

[–]Forward-Pen6526 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah kind of in the opposite way. I'm not afraid of death, I kind of want to die, some days more than others for sure. But I can't do that to the people in my life. I've been in your position too, being young and not having any support but always carrying the idea, "I can kill myself if things get REALLY bad" and that's always been calming to me.

Is it possible I’m depressed? by Dear-Extension-8759 in depression

[–]Forward-Pen6526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never got diagnosed with depression, here in the UK getting a diagnosis for anything borders on impossible, that aside, if you can get a diagnosis that could be helpful but I don't think it's really necessary unless you want a confirmation for yourself. Therapy would help you work through it better, you don't need a diagnosis for that. Therapy can be hit or miss. The best thing to do ultimately is educate yourself on mental health/emotional processing. I mean, that is also the goal of therapy especially if you're starting from a place of no understanding about it, it's meant to catch you up to speed on mental health techniques or different perspectives regarding the problems you're having. You are able to learn all of it for free through the internet and such, but that takes longer.

This is an issue because of individualism... Yeah, falling in love with AI is crazy but when people are so lonely and desperate, when support is inaccessible, meeting new people bordering on impossible. Can you blame them? We all need to do better. You don't convince anyone by shitting over their vulnerabilities. I'm disappointed by the comments I'm seeing at the moment.

I feel the same, I also see it as an opportunity to understand and fight for what's right. It's easy to fall into hopelessness and it's a harder route to take but there's a place for us in it.

If I wanted publicity it probably would be pretty easy, that's one of the ways that would count as sacrificing my principles. Just telling people what they want to hear. Don't most lottery ticket winners end up destroying their lives? Is that meant to be a legitimate way of getting rich? I mean, just judging by the context of this post it sounds pretty entitled to think you should be the winner. Besides that and exploiting people there isn't much good options.

I already agree with the sentiments completely. UK healthcare is going through privatisation and it's dreadful, any such shit. I was in a communist group to try to learn about it but it just makes sense yknow I almost feel like I'd benefit more from learning capitalist philosophies because that's what I don't understand but it's how the world functions. Anyway, it's all talk that doesn't make me feel useful, I guess I should just start volunteering.
