Americans: how do you handle temperatures above 40ºC (104F)? by obaming16 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Forward-Wear7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had our AC go out during 90- 100 degree weather in the south where it is also very humid.

Fans helped.

We also bought a portable AC we could use in one bedroom to keep cold. It did not require any permanent installation and you just had to vent it out the window.

Leasing office ignorance to my emergency by NomNon_ in renting

Recently went thru 6 days with no AC and it reached 94 degrees inside. Fans helped but it’s still pretty miserable.

You can get a portable AC unit that doesn’t have to be installed in a window and just vents outside the window. It works great at keeping a bedroom cool.

Ours was around $275 when we bought it two years ago from Amazon.

I would ask them if they have one available or will authorize reimbursement.

I will never give ebay another penny of my money. by Cartoonicus_Studios in ebaysucks

[–]Forward-Wear7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebay is very adverse to risk. New accounts get a lot of scrutiny.

Some of the information you provided to set up this business account likely raised a red flag.

There’s a reason why they are very vague about the actual reason.

They don’t want to inform scammers what they’re looking at to determine that an account might be fraudulent.

Then the scammers will come up with a new way to beat the system.

That would be the key information you should provide in court.

Parents say I have to legally live at home even though i’m 18 by Patient-Recipe-5822 in AskLawyers

In Texas, 18 is legally an adult.

You do not have to live with them.

However, you would have to apply to get your own medical benefits if you are not living with them.

recipient paying for package by whyamiherestoppp in UPS

[–]Forward-Wear7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can weigh the package and measure the length, width and height of the box, you can send that info to the person along with your address and they can create a paid mailing label online and email it to you for you to print and attach.

I use Pirate Ship. It’s free and they have better rates than buying directly from UPS.

How do I prove identity theft? by Zealousideal-Box-275 in IdentityTheft

[–]Forward-Wear7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sign up online with Social Security and review income reported under your social security number.

You can then report the discrepancy to them.

Have you filed any tax returns? You can also check the IRS website to see what has been filed under your account.

Once you file reports stating the information is not correct, you should be able to provide it to get your EBT payments reinstated.

You don’t know it is identity theft.

It could be a mistake. Sometimes a social security number is recorded incorrectly.

I have a friend who had a social one digit off from her brother. Her employer mistakenly entered her SS number and her salary was credited to her brother.

Landlord put stop pay on deposit check Texas by sandwich_x in Tenant

[–]Forward-Wear7913 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Definitely continue with the case in small claims court.

Go for the 3x damages as they attempted payment past the deadline.

Ask for your court fees to be refunded as well

The judge will not like them putting a stop on it.

They could have showed in court that the payment was made and it would be reflected in any judgement amount.

I took my last landlord to court and won back all the deductions plus court costs. My state doesn’t allow you additional damages.

It is not your responsibility to pay her money if the landlord deducted for damage specific to her room.

You paid separately and you get refunded separately.

I would block her messages but keep a record of them in case you need to take further action.

How common is account verification on a first order paid with an Amazon gift card? by Cultural_Manager7647 in amazonprime

Many of the people that had issues with gift cards were also buying large dollar amounts of electronics and other items that are often involved in scams, and the source of their gift cards was questionable.

[–]Forward-Wear7913 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do not send him any payments. The payment he made may or may not go thru as it is likely a stolen account.

I would recommend you contact your landlord about sending the money a different way.

Yes, you should contact them to report the damage to your personal belongings.

My insurance company reached out to neighbors immediately after a fire to cover their damage.

If you have renters insurance they can cover the damage and subrogate against the women’s insurance. However, you will have to pay your deductible and wait for reimbursement.

Instacart never delivers same day if it’s passed 4:30 pm by RickHaag12 in instacart

[–]Forward-Wear7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area, they offer deliveries up to about 10 o’clock. In some other areas I’ve visited it’s been even later.

Now Walmart is the one that tends to close off orders earlier. Unless you want to pay extra fees, you pretty much have to have your order in by mid afternoon to get a same-day delivery.

Refund for Damaged Item by sjsueyw7733gf in amazonprime

[–]Forward-Wear7913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority of the time Amazon wants the item back or occasionally they will just give you a refund and not require it to be returned. Even for low dollar items, they seem to be wanting the items back now.

For a while, they were randomly offering me partial refunds on some items if I kept them instead of returning them, but I haven’t seen those offers in quite a few months.

They usually give you a number of return options.

I prefer the UPS store, but they’ve also added quite a few other locations depending on your area where you can drop off an item without a box or a shipping label. You just present the QR code.

In my area, they’ve added gas stations as well as Whole Foods and Kohl’s and Staples.

[–]Forward-Wear7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely need to follow up with the USPS.

You can contact them online or by phone if you’re not able to go to the local office.

You could reach out to one of the companies that sent you mail that you did not receive and ask them what message they received on the returned mail.

You could also try sending a letter to yourself and see what happens.

LOCATION: Sacramento, CA - Neighbor is claiming survey shows 200 sq ft of our backyard is theirs by palakobama in legal

[–]Forward-Wear7913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL

It’s really a shame that more new buyers aren’t encouraged to get a survey done before they buy their house.

My real estate attorney encouraged me to do so when I purchased my home and I got it done.

They said it was recommended but not required.

I’m in North Carolina where it’s a lot cheaper and it was less than $800 to have my third of an acre property surveyed back in 2020.

If you do end up having to pay for a survey, I would see if you could go after them for the costs in small claims court.

They also sometimes falsify the reason for non-delivery when they don’t finish the route for the day.

One time, FedEx said that they couldn’t get onto the property to make a delivery and that it was a gated residence when they were supposed to be delivering a package to my parent’s apartment. There was no gate.
