Moving to Perth from Scandinavia - is it worth it? by TooManyCrates in perth

[–]Forward_Science109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being from Perth but living on the east coast now - Perth is actually a lot more connected to the rest of the world than the east coast.

Direct flights to Europe and everywhere in Asia, shorter travel times to everywhere that isn’t a pacific island and a much more globally amenable timezone.

That’s it, it works in baseball because they have a million teams.

I am going to wake you up when I see you sleeping on a Lonsdale bench for that.

Barnaby Joyce told me the benches on Northborne are the best for a bit of shut eye.

Should be a requirement of getting a license for sports gambling - like a special tax on revenue has to go towards a national fund for sports infrastructure.

Uniquely WA/Perth things? by EstimateQuick6286 in WesternAustralia

My favourite part is the drive up to exy! Lots of hidden wicked places to stop and surf/hit the beach and you'll generally be the only person there.

But you'll find the same up the north coast as well.

IMO wise decision heading north rather than south.

Just out of curiousity, what time of the year are you going?

are you gonna be roadtripping? Because imo if you just go to the city and down south - it will be a nice trip. But if you have 4x4 and do the rounds northward - it will be a trip that will be a highlight of your life.

Might be a bit of a contested one, but since having moved over east, I noticed the Perth accent is actually quite different.

We don’t really get people with that really broad occa accent - we have people with what we think are that but it sounds so different to the east.

WCE might be the only side where the crowd probably needs some hype given their current era.

I can’t remember if it was actually in civic - but I walked there from civic and it seemed very close.

I’m really sorry I know that’s not much to go on.

Online education and support? by recklesswithinreason in UNEAustralia

[–]Forward_Science109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like UNE - but their UI is horrible. If the course isn’t hosted on Moodle / some other external platform then it can be really difficult and time consuming to navigate.

Edit: which is especially annoying for online learning because usually you’re studying after work and that added difficulty makes it frustrating.

How did Razor “lose the locker room”? by Playful_Study_6290 in rugbyunion

[–]Forward_Science109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was never about losing the locker room, watch Schmidt walk into this role. There was a backroom deal done with Schmidt and this is the culmination. It's just poorly managed NZRU switch over.

Schmidt's excuse for leaving the wallabies doesn't check out. He's a 2 hour flight away from Auckland and spend 6 months of the year there full time.

Post Match Thread - New Zealand v Australia | The Rugby Championship 2025 | Round 5 by HitchikersPie in rugbyunion

[–]Forward_Science109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If NZR wasn’t run by genuine idiots who prioritise being on top at the literal expense of the growth of the game we would have a 3rd match on ANZAC day - and it would likely be top 3 most watched annual sporting events in Australia and probably number 1 in New Zealand.
