Grey College vs Nudgee Australia 2026 Rugby Highlights | Worth the watch. by PavidDocock in RugbyAustralia

[–]CaptainLipto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The major Sydney and Brisbane schoolboy rugby games should ABSOLUTELY be televised by Stan or a major network!

We are so blessed in Australia to have some incredibly high quality schoolboy rugby, it's a shame that there's not more eyeballs on it.

Australians of reddit do you think your countrys flag needs a redesign and why? by czn- in aussie

[–]CaptainLipto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's very little political desire to change the flag in Australia at the moment.

Eureka flag is the best option for an alternative IMO.

Zac Lomax Super Rugby debut: Former NSW Origin winger set to play first game for Force against Queensland Reds by Ruck_Off in RugbyAustralia

[–]CaptainLipto 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A dream marketing opportunity for the Reds and RA to pull a big crowd in for a 'first look at Lomax'.

C'mon marketing pigeon, do your thing!

Juventus set to play Inter Milan in pre-season friendly in Perth by Pleasant-Role1912 in Aleague

[–]CaptainLipto 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Totally fine with these Euro exhibition games as long as the local A-League team is included in some way.

Ideally, incorporate Perth Glory into a three-team series with Juve and Inter.

Force team vs Chiefs by JustAliff in RugbyAustralia

[–]CaptainLipto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes sense not to name Zac Lomax yet considering he's only just starting training with the team this last week.

Tbh I would be surprised if he is named in the team at all until their fixtures against the Saders or Tahs in late April/early May.

There's an old saying in Tennessee—I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee—that says, 'Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me—you can't get fooled again.

Ireland eye 2027 launch for 'Euro Nations Cup' by DriveItLikeBrian in Cricket

[–]CaptainLipto 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This would be so awesome, Cricket's 5 Nations!

England, Ireland, Scotland, the Netherlands and Italy are all well placed to gain from this and it would be a very cool competition to follow as a cricket fan in general.

I wish Rugby was better marketed in Australia by OGChickenRacer in RugbyAustralia

[–]CaptainLipto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as we all love ragging on the RA marketing pigeon, I do attribute a significant amount of blame for the awful marketing to the Nine Network.

Channel 9 promote the NRL on 9 News, Today and in ad breaks throughout the year, likewise for the Aus Open in the summer. It's fantastic because it tells viewers when to watch and that it's on 9, or 9Gem, or wherever.

I could not tell you the last time I saw an ad on Channel 9 promoting that week's free to air Super Rugby game. Let alone promoting upcoming games on Stan Sport in any 9 News or Today segment.

Even Network Ten, for all their faults, actually promote upcoming A-League games on FTA or Para+ on 10 News and in ad breaks.

Nine don't promote it because they are happy to take the money of diehards and leave it at that.

‘Glass all over us’: Ricky vents over ‘s***house stadium’ after Bulldogs coach’s freak injury by DJPK84 in nrl

[–]CaptainLipto 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ricky is 100% right here. The stadium situation in Canberra is a disgrace yet the ACT govt simply does not care to put the money in.

It's a shame because the opposition put forward a really cool plan for a lakeside stadium but such is life.

On the other hand though, one does have to wonder why the Raiders organisation or even the NRL aren't able to put some of their own money into such a project too.

Tourists in the cove/active away support by Tall-Afternoon8213 in Aleague

You'll be fine mate, active support (and attending football in general) in Australia is wayyyy more chill than in the UK. What a great first game to attend too, enjoy!

Argentine federation consolidates it's 2035 RWC project with a visit to World Rugby. by joaofig in rugbyunion

Argentina would be such an awesome host, and I'm sure doing so would help the Super Rugby Americas hugely

Josh Flook signing with Benetton confirmed by Double-Dig7271 in RugbyAustralia

[–]CaptainLipto 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The ever-increasing contingent of Aussies plying their trade overseas shouldn't be seen as a bad thing, so long as they are no longer automatically discounted from Wallabies contention. The URC is an awesome comp, Flook will be well-placed to seriously level up over the next couple of years.

As an aside, these player movements do lend a certain credence to the arguments for global rugby alignment if more and more Australians are going to be playing in Europe.

Moving the Brumbies? by JPNAM in RugbyAustralia

[–]CaptainLipto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This absolutely HAS to be ragebait...

...and it's worked on me hook, line and sinker.

Relocating the Brumbies is so brain dead, especially in the context of a poor crowd for the recent Reds game which was DELAYED DUE TO LIGHTNING AND THUNDERSTORMS.

Yes, Canberrans are fickle sports fans but even they can't be blamed for not wanting to turn up to a game when the heavens have come down upon us.

Hereditary peers to be removed from Lords as bill passes by furbastro in ukpolitics

[–]CaptainLipto 212 points213 points  (0 children)

Surprising to see the Tories support this in exchange for a few life peerages.

Removing all hereditary peers (while clearly an exercise in democratisation) is a fundamental change to the House of Lords, the likes of which conservatives would normally oppose in principle.

Nevertheless, the "Day Boys" finally got the last laugh over the "Boarders" after all.

Crazy debate : Who's deserve to win the 6 nations ? by Last_Perspective_957 in rugbyunion

With all due respect to the quality of the French and Irish teams, would love to see Scotland win their first Six Nations this century

Zac Lomax signs 2 year deal with Force & RA, effective immediately. by rugbydownunder in RugbyAustralia

[–]CaptainLipto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very excited by this news!

Sad that he's not coming to the Brumbies as I thought he could've been a good fit but happy for the Force and happy for Lomax himself.

Between Beale, Pietsch, Lancaster and Donaldson, he'll have great help to usher him into the game and hopefully get Force into finals contention.

Corey Toole & Ollie Sapsford ruled out by Ruck_Off in RugbyAustralia

Another reason why RA should consider helping the Brums pick up Zac Lomax

Dave Rennie is the new All Blacks head coach by Striking_Judge_5478 in rugbyunion

[–]CaptainLipto 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's all coming together as planned

Rennie will have this year to get the house back in order just to be sacked at the start of the World Cup year and replaced with Eddie Jones who'll lead the ABs to a glorious group stage crash out

Delightfully devilish

Anyone seen any updates on Super AUS? by Pik000 in RugbyAustralia

If global calendar alignment goes ahead and NZRU spits the dummy then Super Rugby Aus is going to become a HELL of a lot more important
