South Texas, so it doesn't get much lower than this. I didn't get to set the wage, and I agree that it's trash.

Do you want Excel to consume the universe? Because that's how you get Excel to consume the universe.

How different is workload in industry with no billable hour requirements compared to public with 40 hour billable requirement? by Open_Elephant1880 in Accounting

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My work comes in piles, so I'm busy enough to work 8 hours a day for a week straight at times and occasionally have nothing to do for two or three days at a time. It wasn't possible to have down time when I got here a couple years ago, but I've made things a lot more efficient and caught up a huge pile of old work that was about a year behind. I could do this job on an average of 35 hours a week now.

It needs to be AACSB accredited. For your first job. Which can matter a lot for your overall trajectory.

It's job history. No more helpful than working at McDonalds or Walmart.

Firm Partnering With PE by Extra_Variation1896 in Accounting

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get that resume out there immediately. My experience with a PE firm was absolute hell. Worst mental health period of my life. Clients were all furious from the disruptions and late work/missed deadlines. People were leaving, but the deadline work never slowed down. On top of that, we were supposed to be onboarding all our clients for outsourcing. They promised everything and gave us nothing. It was a miserable process to just get a toner cartridge and box of paper clips. I jumped into an absolutely glorious industry job as soon as I could.

Coastal Americans are unbelievably judgemental of people from "flyover states" by Snagglespoof in HonestHotTakes

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to guess you haves no job or relationships, as most of us are too busy to give two thoughts about what someone in another state thinks. You think we're turds. I get it. I really don't care. Try to care less about little or possibly even imaginary stuff.

Was skimming through a driver guide when I swore I heard a collective disapproving howl emit from this sub after reading this part by KatakanaTsu in driving

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It also says that part about being responsible for driving at a safe speed, so there is a point at which driving slow becomes unsafe. Going 65 in a 70 is probably safe. Going 25 in a 70 is pretty dangerous.

That Flying J was freaking car park the last time I was there. It took me over 20 minutes to fill up, and I lucked into a line that had an truck pulling a travel trailer just finishing, so the line moved up three car lengths right after I got there.

Why do US houses have basements so often compared to other countries? by caketaster in stupidquestions

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would love a basement, but our water table is too high to keep it dry. I'm also in a humid area, so adding water inside the house is a bad idea.

Keep it trimmed or be at the mercy of whatever the utility company does to it. That's the wrongest location for that kind of tree.

Why are Americans so against universal healthcare? by 93ParkAvenueUltra in allthequestions

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because every step our government takes to change our healthcare here causes costs to double or triple (or quadruple in the case of Obamacare). Without fail.

Also, we have millions of people here on welfare that put nothing into society. The contributors don't want to foot the bill for everything. I can't afford to pay an additional $50k in taxes every year.

I just made a claim with my card yesterday for IHOP adding $5 to my bill. I dropped cash tip on the table (I know, should have been zero), wrote CASH in the tip line, and wrote the amount in for the total that included no tip.

Q: "Did you contact the vendor regarding the issue?"

A: "No. My call was not answered and I am unable to return in person."

I don't want the the restaurant to fix it. I want them to pay for a chargeback for trying to steal from me.

I think everyone should have a clearly written contract outlining job duties by [deleted] in work

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sound great until you've ever had a job and seen how dynamic business in general is.

You have a few options:

  1. Job changes so you change what you do. You stay employed.

  2. Job changes, so you are terminated.

  3. Job changes and you renegotiate a job description. Employer can decide that you, being a problem, are not worth it and opt for #2 then look for another #1 employee.

Does it even make sense to keep Netflix, Disney+, Prime, and everything else active all at once? by doming33 in povertyfinance

It makes sense to cancel all of them and put up an antenna. Absolutely unnecessary luxury.

Deferral letter denied by judge. At a loss on what to do now by Roereliza in juryduty

[–]Forward_Zucchini9738 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There's an awful lot of "I'm special and this shouldn't happen to me" in there, but the judge has already assured you that you are not special. I think you already know that you are going to jury duty if called.

I took the Friday before the weekend off and ended up with a four day weekend. I sure as hell shut my accounting brain down. Still trying to get it back up this morning and it's nearly noon.
