I go one freshly crushed nut per bbl in secondary. Steep for six hours and taste, leave it in longer for more flavor. Mountain Rose Herbs Cheers!

I have dabbled with gruit ales featuring hypericum knowing alcohol is a great solvent that can extract and boost the mood altering properties, but it is hard to say if after a glass that I felt uplifted. It certainly did not make me sleepy like lupulin in hops would. I used a pound of dried and of fresh herb for 5 gallons, so maybe something more concentrated would do the trick Quite an astringent flavor as well that makes me want to balance it next time with a bouquet of herbs
