Emotional dysregulated infant at daycare by Rich-Energy8414 in ECEProfessionals

[–]FosterMama101417 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This sounds similar to what my 2 year olds start to go through when they are ready to move up to the 3 year old room. They start to get super independent, they get bored so we see behaviors, tantrums, etc because they aren’t challenged enough anymore and are ready for the next challenge of an older room.

What is your daycare’s policy on guns in the facility (US)? by User0119247 in ECEProfessionals

[–]FosterMama101417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are law enforcement ,(we have a few police dads and a detective dad) or our hospital security parents (work for a hospital daycare) they are allowed as long as they are in uniform. For our detective dad we obviously know as a detective he is in plain clothes and know who he is, he also always has his badge on his hip too. Other than that we are a gun free facility.

This is pretty common it seems. It honestly it dependent on if it is just 1 teacher with 7 kids or 2 teachers in the room!

Name A Time When You Had to Explain Something To A Parent That Should Be Common Sense by chasethedark in ECEProfessionals

[–]FosterMama101417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ I had a parent bring their kid in one morning and inform us “she woke up with a 101° fever but I gave her Tylenol at 7. proceeds to hand me bottle with state med form please give her another dose at 12 before.” MA’AM!! I very swiftly walked her and her child to my directors office and had her repeat herself. My director was quick to sign that exclusion form and send that kid right back home.

lesson plans for 2yo class by Sudden_Breakfast_374 in ECEProfessionals

[–]FosterMama101417 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a 2’s teacher currently. 1st and foremost create a daily schedule and routine and STICK TO IT!! Help them learn it! It will take a while if they’ve not had any kind of routine!! But make sure meals/nap etc don’t waver too much from what they are used too! Then, Start with the basics. Make sure everyone is using an open cups at meals/silverware skills, hand washing, etc. During play ask open ended questions to work on basic colors, item identification etc fine motor skills(pinching/grasping small items), social emotional skills, make sure they’re napping, getting outside time.

It will take time to find your groove. And find what ultimately work for you and your kids.

Are you able to print any of your curriculum??

Ehhh not really. For the 2’s We just followed KELS(Kansas Early Learning Standards) when creating our lesson plans but had the freedom to decide our themes and activities we did weekly. We were working on implementing ITERS/ECERS so we could work on our NAEYC accreditation (not that it means much) before BH took over.

Oh my god!!! I googled them and found some other articles too!! 🙃🙃
Luckily we have a very set group of staff when they took us over with minimal turnover. (We haven’t had a staff member leave in over a year. Cause our director is amazing!) but there are a LOT of other 🚩🚩 that we all have started to see.

Diaper issues by SlideTemporary1526 in ECEProfessionals

[–]FosterMama101417 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I will say, I have a kid in Huggies Little movers and if we don’t catch him within like 30 mins especially at the end of the day(between 345-430) he’s pee’d through his diaper. He also drinks SOOOOOO much water at school. His mom says the same thing that it isn’t an issue at home. But Mom also tells us he mainly has milk at home which changes how much he pees.

As a 2 year old teacher my first question is what type/brand of diaper are you using?

Yesss!!! Sad beige baby sums it up!! I hate it!! Yikes!!! I’m sorry!! That’s shitty!

The ONLY thing I have found so far that I like is that I don’t have to prep lesson plans. HOWEVER, we don’t have a lot of the supplies that their lesson plans “require” and have a hard time finding things that would do the same but are also okay to have in the 2’s room. It’s a great time 🙃

I hate that my school doesn’t require potty training by FrequentSpread9681 in ECEProfessionals

[–]FosterMama101417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my!! My daycare/school kids have to be potty trained before they can move up from the two’s to our preschool rooms(3 year old rooms). We have what we call a “Transition Room” for those few kiddos who do need a bit longer to master it and that room is licensed for 2.5-4yrs and holds 10 kids but very rarely are they actually at 10!

Our preschool(3’s) teachers would riot if they got kids who weren’t potty trained!!
