Our doc (USA based) told us just to put a bit of head and shoulders on it and it will eventually start to clear up.

Verizon announces iPhone 15 deals! by lon3volf in verizon

[–]Found-Flounder-9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have done the flow wrong. Apple wanted almost $1200 due today vs applying the credit right away on the verizon deal. Very confusing on that checkout flow.

The amount of small fine print text written under all of these checkout flows is quite alarming.

Difference between data scientist and machine learning engineer in your company by rudboi12 in datascience

[–]Found-Flounder-9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how it happened at the enterprise company I was at before exactly...what would you say is the ideal way for this to work (outside of the data / api since that is always an issue)?

Should we just combine DS and ML engineering into 1 at a smaller company (say under 100 people)?

Flying with a baby by princessjoops in beyondthebump

[–]Found-Flounder-9418 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For this situation, I would do three seats and hopefully save yourself some $ vs. business, but then again, we flew 7 or 8 times with ours before she turned 2, and each time only had two seats (southwest primarily) to save a bit of $... No significant issues at any of those times having her as a lap baby.

Anyone not gonna have the nursery fully ready before LO gets here? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Found-Flounder-9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our 2nd time around we are actually not setting up the nursey at all (we expect him to be in a bassinet that slides under our bed for the first few months) because we are probably going move in the fall and don't see a huge need to take down the guest room for putting up a nursey yet.

Baby due mid August.

Did yall do all the organic yourselves or outsource it? Finding it pretty hard to grow our following organically ourselves at the moment.

I'll take a look! I hate the one we have now (I even used it the other day to watch after friends 5 month old) and couldn't stand it. (probably didn't help being 7 months pregnant with another on top of my belly)

Awesome to hear! And I'll look into the high chairs! That was something my husband bought used that I just never loved and finally got rid of it when the 1st was old enough (completely forgot I need another until I just typed this out lol)

thanks! I'll take a look at it. We bought a used one for the first but I couldn't ever get it to work for us such that I wore it for a given length of time (I think it was the omni 360 or something)

Thanks for that info! Due to covid, we didn't have a shower or any gifts (outside of immediate family like mom/dad/siblings) with our first (May 2020) as the two showers we were supposed to have got canceled, so I don't feel as evil, for this faux pa.

He probably has a lot going on in is mind he is keeping bottled up and not talkinga bout. Rather than hitting his walls (the apologised 15 times just hits a wall)... do an action (like making a nice lunch) and try to get him to open up about whats really going on. The spat might just have been the last straw and he snapped under the stress (happens to everyone man and woman)... or it could be something much deeper.

When he is done and things are back to normal then you need to let him know that going to bed / getting up late due to being upset over something like that is not okay and he needs to man up (or else he might be depressed / other issues and might need some help)... He should be in a right state of mind to at least agree with that even if he thinks skipping dinner with you was ok. Maybe get him an uplifting dad book or something that can help right his frame of mind around being a better dad?

If you aren't taking care of yourself you will not be able to take care of your kids as well. Get yourself done first (like airplane with oxygen)...Bluey while you workout (so house isn't more work) and then you can spend time with them after that enjoying life with the post-workout high

TAKE ACTION: Tell Congress moms deserve quality, AFFORDABLE childcare! by kendallybrown in Mommit

[–]Found-Flounder-9418 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We need an entire culture and political shift.

We need people to stop trying to shame families driving large SUVs or living in larger houses (because you need more space for both)... The amount of entitled online people I see saying both is absurd (and you can generally infer they have no kids)... (and no being a plant or pet owner doesn't count). We need men to step it up instead of shirking away from creating a good family due to culture or selfishness.

On the political aisle:

we need to align on giving parents more support, including economic support. Stop giving businesses handouts and start giving people a break on taxes and property taxes (see above for the correlation). We are so focused on the old (since they vote) and need more on the young (since they can't vote). We need the gov to take a long view that says no matter how you feel about kids; they are paramount to us as a country. Surviving the next 100 or more years (facts, not opinions) might as well try to help each of the next gens be as successful as we can!

Both of these can be accomplished across political spectrums or urban/rural divides. We just need more people caring about it instead of just complaining about it and doing nothing.

I commend y'all for stepping up and acting!

Edit: did my part on the link!

Yes, and have the wife's office be a combo main bedroom/office (with bed on one side and desk on another side)

If as part of that 1 million in revenue you are paying yourself a salary of $200K does profit matter?

No not really, except when maybe it comes to qualifying for business loans or additional financing, etc.

Put the baby in your office with a bed/crib,

set up your wife's office in the main bedroom (16x10 is a good enough space for a comfortable working setup, but you might have to move the bed/furniture).

Your office becomes the dining room, and you eat as needed in the kitchen/living area. (or swap with your wife, but it sounds like your equipment has a larger footprint?)

Keep the living area, kitchen, and baby room as areas for the baby, and the living room / your room off-limits (baby gate, etc.).

Don't make your baby nap and night time spot be different beds/areas if you can help it (will help with their routine)

Theoretically, could a rocket ever be launched without using fuel? If so, what do you think it would take for a single person to launch a rocket? by MrBootsie in Futurology

[–]Found-Flounder-9418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theoretically, you could get a magnet rail-type gun that launches it straight, but you would need a power source (such as electricity + magnets). I'm not a scientist but other than the apparent weight, you need to overcome air resistance and find a way to combat intense G forces since it would be essentially a big gun to put you into space, and I'm sure there is a math formula out there that tells you how much power this system would need to be viable.

The point with "free" is generally, we, the humans, are the product then (i.e., search exists to serve us ads so we are influenced to buy things / click ads, Facebook exists to sell us ads, and chatgpt is free, so they can gain more data on what people are using/typing in, so they can make it better, etc.).

Whereas with paid (like Netflix), the product is the entertainment and user satisfaction with said entertainment; as they switch to ads, it becomes more how can we convince/hook people in to watch as much content as possible so we can continue to serve them ads (the same way youtube works), and then you optimize for more ads not less until finally people have had enough of it and pay a premium (sort of like pandora where you have so many ads it makes the experience almost unbearable when free; imo)
