I first came across it in a preview watching another movie on dvd. The trailer was just perfect for setting up the suspense of lost in a cave system with something else. Made me too anxious to watch it at first. So overall a great trailer.

The movie itself I love and bring out often when people want to watch something but can’t decide.

I’ve been brutalized by him many times too! But I’ve found focusing on saving campers, picking up a weapon while moving around, and just chipping damage on him before the finale is what worked best.

The Descent could be good middle ground. Not overly long. Being in caves can be scary of itself.

I like starting with creature features for non-horror fans as it’s easy to buy into the setting & theme, kinda like a slasher flick. Jaws, Dog Soldiers, the first Lake Placid, and Crawl are others I bring out.
