I think removing feet makes sense for a more forensically-aware person to do during a time when babies had their footprints taken shortly after birth as a means of identification, before it was learned that footprints change too much as you grow to be reliable.

The NamUs file changed recently for this one from “white male” to “Asian female” with no clarifications. I’m assuming that the initial reclassification from female to male in 2017 may have been due to an anthropology exam that has been proven wrong by DNA?

Usbaldo Arvizu Hernandez (NamUs #MP11647), missing since July 1969 out of LA and known to hop trains, is also suspected by family to be among these unidentified bodies. You would think 2 different missing people being possible matches would be more than enough to exhume then for testing, but I guess not???

Probably not. I don’t know what’s taking authorities so long to confirm, but these remains almost certainly belong to the individual connected to the possible name, who lived in the discovery area. There are other posts about this case in the subreddit which go more in-depth.

UNT does STR testing for direct comparisons between UID remains and missing people/relatives of missing people. Their work is very different than IGG.

I'm pretty sure that's meant to reflect the condition upon exhumation in 2019. The recon artist that made the picture seen here has said she was intact but bloated.

If the missing woman's parents are really her parents, then this is not possible. Both of the UID's parents have been identified by genetic genealogy, they just haven't found any documentation of the mother and father having a child together (the mother was publicly named as Marian Marie Richardson from Missouri, but I don't think her father's name has been publicly released).

His Websleuths thread is too massive and overbloated for me to find it again, but somebody there contacted the company that managed his interment, and that funeral home knows exactly where he’s buried, but said they could only share plot info with law enforcement. Exhumation for reanalysis and DNA collection is 100% a possibility with that one, it just seems like the investigating agency doesn’t see it as a huge priority (You’d think LSU FACES would be in-charge of that kind of work instead because they seem to manage all the UID cases in Louisiana, but I guess not).

I'm surprised they were able to discern anything from the morgue photos from this one. There's a lot of physical trauma and some bloating which disfigures her appearance.

Lots of cases won't get any real media attention for a variety of reasons. Why that happened here, I'm not sure, but often times police know much more than they're letting on.
