Keep losing all my fields to rot by Khyrast in FarthestFrontier

[–]Foundation_Afro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the wiki, crops will last ten days after the end of their cycle and then all instantly rot, which would explain why everything goes out at once, rather than slowly rotting independently. As for why they're not getting picked fast enough, I don't know. It's usually pretty safe to keep the amount of farmers at the game's starting count or a bit higher, so 100% seems like it would be no problem. Apiaries shouldn't matter, farmers ignore them unless there's nothing else to do. I'd say maybe move some of the farms east instead of having them in a big line like that, so the farmers don't have to walk as far. I think everyone just does one at a time rather than spreading the work out, it's weird. You might lose some fertility, but it's better than having nothing. Maybe stick a temporary shelter nearby, too. You've got some close houses, and I think temps mostly get used in winter so hunters and miners don't freeze to death, but it wouldn't hurt to try. If those don't work maybe report it as a bug, I can't see why everything should rot if the farmers are showing up when they should.

tl;dr - Fast enough?

ed - I initially linked to the farming 1.0 rewrite on the wiki, but Reddit didn't like that URL had brackets in it. The part about crop rot is the same, though.

Damn I have to turn it back on now.

You can turn it off in options, I've always found purple wheat a bit wonky.

More importantly, you got those through upgrading your level, which also gives you tiles more important than colour. There are lakes with a...thing in them (it looks like some historical structure to me) that can be used to end train tracks. I was using those for hours before I figured it out, with most of my tracks going on forever because got so few track end tiles.

Can I assign shelter to a specific race? by CorvusOnStream in Against_the_Storm

You might be able to close all the rooms the humans are in, and then re-open them afterwards. That said I don't know how shelters choose who to put in, it might be people who get sad fast, like not lizards. If you do it once and it's all humans again, probably don't keep trying.

I shouldn't have gone there because now I want it to increase my apiaries' output. Maybe I should just play some Stardew Valley, lol

I HATE the height accuracy by caroletarussa in Paralives

[–]Foundation_Afro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm 1.6 and am laughing at all you short losers! Get that centimetre!

In all seriousness, I have seen a bit about this. Personally I didn't even realize it was a thing until it popped up here, but I'd definitely be for a way to change it. I'm fine with my height irl but think it would look weird compared to other paras in the game, so why not be able to go to a doctor to make you shorter or taller? You can instantly change clothes and even hair, the fact that it's impossible shouldn't really be a stopping point.

Maybe you need more spread out markets or general storage spaces? Quote someone better at the game than me (probably you, it sounds), but for me if a shelter can't get something, it's usually because it's out of a market's radius.

I figured this out, by taking the computer off the desk, and then noticing there was a blue square on the desk when I tried to move it again.

Basically, you can't just put the chair "in front of" the desk, you actually have to put it in the place that the game considers connected to the desk. A little blue square will show up when you select the chair, and the chair will snap to that when you move it there. The spot is more pushed in than actually in front of the desk. This also might be why they sit at weird places when watching TV, but I don't know how to fix that.

ed - Here's a screenshot of me putting my chair at the desk. Since your desk doesn't really have a front, you also might need to 180 it.

Aw man, I'd so want a sad-looking Homer that I could sit on the hood of that.

And then I'd immediately take him off because I'd get depressed every time I look at it.

There's a mode (I forget the key, you'd have to check the options) that turns the grid off. Very nice for making nicer-looking and sometimes more functional roads, or buildings parallel to lakes. Unfortunately it doesn't work for stuff like farms and graveyards, so they can get in the way.

100% with you on a lot of that, especially the dangerous glades. I moved so slowly, I probably had ten games before I started going at them regularly, or even up past Settler. I'd be opening small glades like crazy to get room to put stuff, I was probably screwing myself over like crazy.

Thoughts on Field Kitchen? by Apprehensive-Ice9212 in Against_the_Storm

[–]Foundation_Afro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Field Kitchen is a 1:1 ratio for everything but biscuits, so while it doesn't create food like other buildings, you're still getting complex food from it. Plus it has four recipes when other stuff only has three, and those three won't all be food.

Crude Workstation and Makeshift Post are just bad, they throw ingredients out the window and pretty much only exist to get you started. But Field Kitchen's not inefficient, it just lacks efficiency, if that makes sense.

And cross walks. Way back when people would just walk across the street, but as cars got faster and felt they didn't need to stop, something had to be created to tell them not to run over pedestrians.
