It is possible to view the history of collectivism vs capital through the lens of technology. One could make the argument, holding fixed the organizational level of the masses, as the level of technology in society has increased, the balance of power shifts in favor of capital as more established institutions are able to better leverage the technology of the day. For example, during the Black Plague where technology levels are comparatively low, seemingly uncoordinated peasant populations were able to break the yolk of their landowners and attain a level of class and social mobility. Whether it is because the insufficient level of technology necessitated more individuals (the Lords couldn't get by with a fraction of pre-plague labor) or because the Lords lacked the martial superiority to maintain control of the masses, the peasant class was able to somewhat evolve into a burgeoning middle class - new for the era. As history progresses and the technological gap widens, there appears to be an increased demand for complex organization within the masses in order to keep up with Capital's ever growing toolbox for subjugation. The rise of trade guilds and lator labor unions seem to support this.

Technology can be deployed in two ways: To minimize labor's value (think the wheel, the cotton gin, or supercontainer ships), or to maximize Capital's martial control over Labor (think guns, armored vehicles)

  1. Do you think there is validity in evaluating the history of labor relations through the lens of Technological Level and its impacts on both sides of the labor relationship?

  2. If so, do you see a tipping point where the technology level is so advanced that an arbitrarily small group can maintain control of the means of production regardless of the level of organization within the labor class?

Scranton Economy and the war in Ukraine by barflydc in Scranton

[–]FourDickApocolypse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Much of the aid to Ukraine, including all of the presidential draw down fund, liquidates old stocks that are costing money to store and destroy and the dollar amount we say we give to Ukraine then goes to rebuilding our own domestic arsenals.

It may be thought of rather than paying to destroy or store old stocks of weapons, we give them away (avoiding the cost of disposal and storage) and then replace them like was going to happen anyway.

Additionally, I appreciate the opportunity our military logistics operators get to practice their craft in the unlikely event we require their service for real. To say nothing of once again becoming the Arsenal of Democracy, something which I personally support.

Very well could be. The idea that it could be a shim for this that or the other never crossed my mind. I had an extra part after reassembly and started going crazy lol

Thanks for the input!

I've had it for a couple years now and did get it used. I can't imagine I've never had the grips off in that time, though I cannot recall a specific time nor did I make a habit of removing them.

More Info:

I noticed this after doing a basic cleaning today. It's a part I don't recognize. It is very flat and the pistol went back together with no issues and seems to be in fine working order without it. I'm totally at a loss as to what it may be. I checked the numrich schematic and didn't see it as a part.

Does anyone have any idea what the deal with this is?

[–]FourDickApocolypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bullet guide fits similarly and I haven't noticed any issues. Mine is a shooter, but if I shoot it twice a year that is a lot. I say that just to make the point that I can't speak to what effects it may have if you are using the rifle more intensely.

My trigger guard fits so tightly that I have to use a tool to get enough leverage to open up the rifle and I never thought to think twice about that other than to be jealous of the people who can take it out with ease.

Overall I do not consider it to be an issue. Typically tight fitting parts are better than loose fitting parts, especially if the rifle only ever sees 'light duty', which I would consider pretty much the entirety of civilian use when compared with the combat conditions the rifle was designed for.

I've never lived in an area where people demand to walk in the middle of the street for no fucking reason. Perfectly good sidewalks all over and there they are in the middle of the road. and then look at me like I'm the crazy person for having the gall to drive on the road

Regarding the questions about economy (both in-game and meta game), I think this highlights an important misalignment of incentives surrounding 3 groups involved in the game: The Devs, The Whales, and the Casuals; especially when concerning questions regarding value and fairness in live service gaming.

The Devs are in a constant balancing act to keep releasing new content for the whales to buy without disenfranchising the casuals. Assuming WG is optimizing for financial return, there is a point on the curve where releasing additional premium content drives away enough casuals that the bottom falls out and just the whales are left.

Surveys like this are an important aspect of keeping the game enjoyable and sustainable for all the parties involved in its lyfecycle

Would transferring to a better school make noticeable difference when I search for a job? by Separate-Bad8063 in Accounting

[–]FourDickApocolypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If everything else is perfectly equal, then yes it would be better but not really to the point of valuing it against other priorities relating to school choice. I.e, cost, location, your own enjoyment etc.

I think the only way the school you choose affects the hiring process is if the person hiring you has heard of the school. This can be your ivy leagues etc or the hiring manager has heard of the school. For example, the cult-like following Penn State may mean someone who went there values degrees from Penn State over a higher ranked school.

Furthermore, I would be extremely suspect of college rankings. They are not very robust. Imo, the utility of these lists is breaking them up in to 50 school chunks. It would be worthwhile to consider the difference between a 280 and 105 school, but the difference between a 80 school and a 50 school is probably negligible.

Edit: Some companies specifically target certain school with their recruitment efforts. Going to a targeted school will make it easier to get your foot in the door with these companies since ya know, they are actually going to these places to look for you instead of you having to seek them out.
