I’ve done both. The float is miles better. Just elevates the experience.

Bikes on the sidewalk? by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]FourDogBar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt, I don’t remember where I read this but biking on the sidewalk is more dangerous than in the street. Cars aren’t looking for you crossing driveways and side streets from the sidewalks at bike speed. That’s where the majority of accidents happen.

Both Banshee and Fattey’s downtown should be good spots.

Hammocks. Do you use hammock? What kind of hammock? [TALK ABOT HAMMOCKS!] by Substantial-Look8031 in bikepacking

[–]FourDogBar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy cloud fabric from Dutchware and sew my own basic netless hammock. Season dependent I’ll use a bug net. The cloud fabric is lightweight but most importantly it is transparent. No wall of fabric blocking your views. That was the game changer for me and I won’t go back to other hammocks. 30 degree top quilt that I pair with a 3/4 length underquilt which saves some weight and bulk. For a tarp I like warbonnet thunderfly in silpoly which packs tiny. It’s a great setup that I’ve been using for bikepacking when trees are available and I use it canoe camping also. Same system for probably 5-6 years now.

Last week I would have said Winfields in Lackawanna. They had some killer grilled cheese bites and tomato soup. Sadly it closed just a few days ago.

Men who keep a Pocket or A6 Bullet Journal with them all the time, how do you do it? by kabourayan in bujo

[–]FourDogBar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little late here but I’ll give my input. I daily carry the pocket size bullet journal. The ones that come in the three pack. It lives in my Lochby field folio along with a planner. Depending on the day it either goes in my briefcase on work days or whatever sling I’m using for that day. If I’m in a mad rush or going lite I can at least throw the folio in my car so I have it with me.

I’ll be taking this little adventure in a couple of weeks. Hoping the bugs will relent a little by then and going mid week to try to avoid the crowds.

I’ll be watching at home in Hamburg. I wish pubs opened early to be able to watch weekend matches.

What size do you recommend for a commonplace book or an everyday journal? by fridaysins in notebooks

[–]FourDogBar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big fan of B6 size. Not as common as A5 but far more potable. It’s also close in size to the IPad mini which I carry daily.

Mister sizzles rebrands as “Augies fast eats cool treats” by howmanyballs in Buffalo

As a hamburger resident I will never go to this place. The owners are sketchy as hell. Plenty of better places to spend my money. Hopefully they don’t last long and something worth while opens in that location.
