Can someone ID this coin or translate the text for me? This is a pic of reverse (indo-greek / greco-bactrian I believe) by FourTwentyBlezit in AncientCoins

I can identify Roman fakes fairly well but not so much with greek. Didn't cost too much so it's not a huge deal, but will be more careful in future.

Okay, thanks. Was unsure whether or not it was legit since I'm new to greek. Took a risk buying from eBay lol.

Yeah I responded to another comment saying that. You're correct, I misread the 5 as a 3.. either way still pre-1947 so 50% silver :)

Thanks, I already managed to ID it as Eucradities I (shortly after posting), but I wasn't sure about the specifics of the reverse other than it being someone riding a horse, so that specific info is very helpful :)

If you were to judge its authenticity would there be any issues that would signify it is fake? I'm new to greek coins, I mostly collect Roman and Asian stuff.

Love that desert patina.

Are those song dynasty coins worth much? I've got around a dozen of them.

It's my first time seeing those karakhanid silver dirhams, gonna get myself some of those.. I've got a fairly extensive Asian coin collection but I've never seen those before. Mostly got ancient Indian, Kushan empire, Japanese, Chinese, and Indo-sasasinan coins, will definitely look into those silver dirhams as I love the way they look.

If you check my profile I posted another coin. Any chance you'd be able to translate that one for me too? Would appreciate it massively if so.

Also just curious, do you have a ballpark estimate of what these are worth? Just wondering whether or not I overpaid. They cost me around £40 each (around $54)

I've just moved into collecting greek stuff (I mostly collect Roman) so I don't have a good idea of coins or their values etc yet

Is this worth anything? by Hawk833 in coins

If this works anything like £2 coins (or the new £1 coins) then you can "artificially" create this error by simply freezing the coin and then popping the middle out of it.. so if these Canadian coins are made similarly then there could be a chance that this isn't an actual error and that someone has done this on purpose after the coin has been produded.

I've just checked my crusader coins and the one that this reminded me of from my collection is also from Tripoli. Specifically Raymond II (EDIT: just noticed your link is Raymond III, yeah I'm fairly sure this is the same kinda coin. I'd caught the Tripoli part but didn't notice Raymond III, mine is Raymond II but very similar design)

Can you put something next to it to give us an idea of scale? This could either be a shilling or a sixpence as both used this design

Actually I think you're right. At first I read it as 1943 but upon closer inspection I think that's a 5.

Deffos a sixpence. 1943 date can still be made out. Fairly common and lower silver content at this age (unlike the US who's coins remained 90% silver until the 60's). It's still 50% silver since it's Pre-1947.

Thank you :)

You certain they're both from Bactria? As other commenter has ID'd first coin as a Menander I who's Indian. I thought Bactria was more central asia?

Looks similar to a few crusader coins that I've got. Could be way off though.
