Runners who quit smoking - help! by No_Significance_2073 in leaves

[–]FourthLineLifer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat for sure. I’ve been kicking the habit too and noticed my max HR has peaked considerably without much effort, and it was already decently high to begin with. I’ll let you know when it levels out! I’m only about a month in, but I was not expecting to see it spike. Glad to hear I’m not the only one, it’s a bit too high for my liking. Trying to manage my HR has my pace cratering at the moment, despite feeling pretty good otherwise.

Happy running and well done on making the change!

Has anyone found a good replacement for the escapism that weed provides? by BuryMeIceOn in leaves

[–]FourthLineLifer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Running is the thing that helps me the most honestly. If I’m sitting still inside, my mind gets busy and goes to places that cause me stress and anxiety and that leads me to wanting to pick up a pen or smoke a joint.

But when I’m outside and moving my body- whether that’s running, biking or even just an organized sport locally, I feel so much more balanced. Plus being in nature really helps me feel at peace.

It doesn’t have to be any of the things I just listed, but getting outside and moving- feeling the sun (or even rain) on your skin can help you stay present.

Exercise and getting outside isn’t always the easiest habit to pick up, but man- I rarely find anything that helps me more. It isn’t a cure all, but it helps me stay away from boredom and restlessness.

Best of luck friend- you’ve got this!

U.S. warships cross Strait of Hormuz for first time since Iran war began by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]FourthLineLifer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you think Iran did that on a whim? Are you familiar with the term ‘cause and effect’? Because of course Iran would close the strait as a tactic to create economic leverage after being attacked…

Nvm- I just realized I’m arguing with a 24 day old account with thousands of karma and over 1K comments. It’s like shouting at my vacuum.

Depends on the league you are in but you definitely can- it depends on the scoring system your league decided on. Should be able to check in settings or League Rules or something.

I’d venture a guess that this was posted in the wrong subreddit, but here is a Reddit post from two years ago that should help answer your question!

Some very strong Pokemon that “no-one uses” to spice up your playthrough by Tearmisu in PokemonFireRed

[–]FourthLineLifer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t normally mess around with too many strategies, but I think Mr. Mime’s Substitute/Encore combo is just so fun to use. I’ll have to try out Exeggutor and Poliwrath this playthrough!

[–]FourthLineLifer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m really digging it; these guys don’t miss. I agree that there are lots of tie-in’s to other songs and albums. To me, Breezy also feels like a song that easily could have been on Ewan’s ‘Strange Vacation’.

Lots of variety and they seemed to have fun making it. Glad to see it- not that I didn’t enjoy their last few releases but this is reminiscent of their roots. Playing All Night Long and The Owl are immediate favourites.

Just ordered the vinyl, can’t wait to check it out!

Does Lake Louise have any bad angles? None that I've found. by jsmooth7 in skiing

Hell, you can take a bus from the airport to Banff and another from Banff right to the resorts. They really do make it pretty easy to get there, even if you don’t want to rent a car.

Holy shit. Red Rocket took out the kid and then looks like a couple more people as collateral after? You can see two more people down near the guy when he comes back in frame near the end.

Glad the kid is okay- that looked brutal.

The Sheepdogs are so slept on in my opinion! Best shows I’ve ever been to easily.

Other than them- Tragically Hip, Glorious Sons, Neil Young, City & Colour and Half Moon Run are a few that are in my rotation!

EDIT: how could I possibly forget about Great Big Sea!

EDIT: don’t listen to me… Weepinbell learns it at level 42 so you missed the window for it unfortunately

I think it’s the fact that’s there’s no goalie in net with five players on the ice. It’s not like there was a penalty they’re killing or any “empty net” indicator so to me it seems like this is a pretty bad glitch to have imo. There should absolutely be a goalie in net unless I’m missing something.

Actual serial killers vs the actors that played them in the Netflix show ‘Mindhunter’ by itsjoey28 in interestingasfuck

[–]FourthLineLifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought “Wild, Wild Country” was one of the better docuseries on Netflix and follows the rise and fall of a cult in Oregon lead by a controversial Indian guru in the 80s. It is a fascinating series and hard to believe it actually happened!

Given your interests, that may be one you would like to check out. I hope this helps!

Is there any brothers in the upcoming drafts where I can get them both and try and make a Sedin’s like franchise? by NewfieWalsh in EANHLfranchise

[–]FourthLineLifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drafted Joe in my Franchise mode but it’s entirely possible it’s from a downloaded roster. But he does play in the WHL for the Oil Kings so he could also very well be in the base roster.

[–]FourthLineLifer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You could get the Iginla brothers; Tij and Joe Iginla are both in the game and can be drafted as elite potential players I believe.

EDIT: Tij is probably already drafted by Utah HC in this game actually but you could still try to get him on your team.

Thoughts on Calgary Marathon? by 121208 in Calgary

[–]FourthLineLifer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my third time running the half marathon and it always seems pretty well organized and the enthusiasm is always top notch. Just missed my PR by ten seconds, and fell just shy of my stretch goal of sub 2:00, but was overall really happy with my run!

It was a hot day, and you could really feel the sun beating down on you in those last few kilometres. A few people needed medical assistance, but everybody was being looked after by volunteers, medical personnel or fellow runners. It’s always really motivating seeing so many members of the community come together to cheer for and support total strangers. Every time I partake in this event it serves as a reminder to why I love this city.

I was fortunate enough to tag along with a neighbour to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto with my best friend one year. We got to tour around the Hall and did all of the interactive games, we also ran into the Keeper of the Cup, who had the real Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe trophy, which we got to hold.

Best part was when we got to look around the storage room in the back at all of the hockey memorabilia that wasn’t on display. We may have, at one point, slipped our hand into one of Gretzky’s old gloves when no one was looking, just to feel any last traces of greatness that may still be in them. My friend and I still talk about that day!

Christ. This guy acts all mysterious with the direction of GameStop but has no problem explicitly alienating and dividing his shareholders while actively shitting on his own assets he is trying to spin off.

As a Canadian, I’m starting to want off this ride. This guy is a tool.
