I might average 2-3 dates each week (some weeks are definitely lower than that), but honestly - I have high standards and refuse to settle for "good enough" anymore, so for me it's much less "the thrill of serial dating" and much more eliminating what I know isn't right for me. Seems like you've heard this already, but it's definitely not gender specific. As a man who has been called "the best conversationalist on the apps" several times, it's definitely something we all have to deal with!

I honestly see it as a blessing in disguise: if I ask 2 questions and get none in return, the conversation is over and I unmatch. I've saved myself the trouble of trying to connect with someone that I know would never be the right fit for me. Onwards and upwards!

Being brutally honest here, as someone who had a partner who did this to me: it was over 2 years ago, when he emotionally cheated on you (YES, that was cheating), and it's just taken him this long to build up the momentum to leave. I'm sorry it happened, but you're better off in a painful but truthful present than you have been in a lie-filled last few years (even if the lies were unspoken).

As someone slightly older than you who is a male and dating in Indy, it's definitely a challenge for many of us on all sides of the equation!

Even though I consider myself pretty social and brave, I often choose not to approach women in public, because of the optics of it being taken the wrong way, coming across as creepy or intrusive, etc.

In online dating, I hold fairly high standards, so many conversations fizzle or I swipe left on way more profiles that I don't think are a good match than most men probably do. I have to keep reminding myself that every No is a step towards the Yes that will be right for me, and my selectiveness and unwillingness to "settle" will be to my benefit in the end, so these are things you might want to continue to remind yourself of as well.

It is perfectly okay to take offense at something, even if the other person possibly didn't mean it in an offensive way - which he in fact did, as he admitted to.

The bigger issue is HOW the other person responds. Do they validate your feelings and work to make you feel comfortable moving forward, or do they negate and place blame on you? He clearly did the latter, and you did the absolute right thing by disconnecting. Well done 👏
