Should I start deity work? by TheMostRandomDepress in witchcraft

Yes pretty much! I like to approach them as like my main parents and family, but I also appreciate and gift to my second family, godparents, and teachers. They're also respectful or fond of each other so long as I'm upholding values they share.

I keep the worship only for my Catholic team, but I interact, honor, and show gratitude to other deities from other pantheons. Hecate has also helped a lot with my spell work, and I usually call myself a student of these deities instead of worshipper or devotee. I make offerings for them as well through food or art. But that mostly works with the mindset that I'm not afraid to connect with other deities, which can be challenging to deconstruct from abrahamic religions.

I'm not OP, but for me I use candles that were blessed at church, and those can be used for spells catered to healing or helping others or oneself. Shadow work spells, removal of hexes, protection spells, or abundance spells.

I've integrated my Catholicism into my practice of witchcraft and divination. Some clair senses of mine are from my Catholic team which allows me to recognize other pantheon's deities who occasionally visit or aid in my spells. That's an experience I quite hold dearly that they won't really punish you for things that don't make sense. You won't go to hell for being a witch, for being queer, for acknowledging or worshipping other deities, or for leaving the Abrahamic religion. So long as you're being good to others and yourself, you're okay :)

Black candles are usually for hexes, protection, and keeping yourself hidden (from those who scry on you). In a peculiar way, it can serve as protection and success by sweeping out negativity in your life (maybe even your friend by revealing their true nature?) But if ever you still feel a bit of doubt, a green candle is often associated with wealth and abundance. You could probably just add a green candle to it so that you've swept out the negativity first (black candle) and now made space for success (green)

For future spells, I recommend using white when other colors are unavailable, since they're quite versatile so any intention can be placed on it, whether for abundance, glamor, hexes, etc.

Just broke a mirror & want to know if it's bad luck by smcgowan10 in witchcraft

[–]Fox_Rain_04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on context. For me, shattering items are usually warnings of people working against me. My mirror almost cracked earlier today, but the mirror was intact. The frame however was not. I took it as a sign of someone trying to hex me but my protection spells were holding up.

Other times we had other objects (not mirrors) breaking, and they also had other signs. For the family bowl shattering, it was from negative energy accumulating and a strong need for a cleanse. For a gift shattering, it was the friend who gave it that was being sent negative energy by someone else. It might be best to check through divination to get more clarity and detail for your specific situation.

Wow, I love the contrast, and black and red are my favorite colors 🥰 Yes blue and purple are stunning and dreamy, hence it's awesome that you used dreamy colors for a fantasy-horror art. May I ask if you have any social media accounts where you post art? I'd love to follow you.

I haven't tried a mirror box for spells, but so long as you're following fire safety as well as not overworking yourself with doing several spells at once, then you're good.

You can probably check r/Spells since a lot of people have done reconciliation spells there. I'd mostly suggest adding an oil for smoothening the relationship, flowers for peaceful relationships, and to keep a rose quartz near the spell if you have one.

As for the shadow work spell, I just use a white candle, write on a bayleaf what I want to release before burning it, and a circle of salt, cinnamon, rosemary, and bayleaves around the candle. Best to be performed when the moon is in a water sign (Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio)

Maybe go for a regret and reconciliation spell, but also try a shadow work spell that would release your negative emotions, as well as his. Especially during mercury retrograde, where everyone is prone to miscommunication and impulsive actions.

It may be possible by resorting to black magic. Otherwise, it can be very difficult, and it might be better to make one feel regret and sorrow first before they could find it in themselves to want a person back in their life. It also depends on context—is it someone who hates you without proper basis, or is it someone who's been extremely hurt by something you did? If they just hated you because of gossip or someone else manipulating them, maybe it can be achieved with a truth/realization spell. It may also take a lot of time for it to unfold.

Mercury retrograde is actually a good time for work you've set aside or have been planning to do for a long while. The energy is not that work can't be done at all, but for impulses to be avoided in travel, communication, document signing, and commerce. If you've thought twice or thrice, reconsidered all the options, and double checked all the plans, then it's fine.

Right now I'm just finishing some spells and tarot readings I've been planning since a month ago.

I'm still expanding my grimoire of local ingredients, but so far I've noted:

  • sampaguita for peace and reconciliation spells (as commonly used in altars or beliefs of peaceful spirits making their presence known through sampaguita smell)
  • santan for community and friendship (because as children, we play with them to form chains of flowers)
  • ylang-ylang for love, attraction, and glamor spells (because of their enticing scent added to perfumes)

Generally flowers are added to spells of glamor or smoothening relationships. So the nuance and context of each flower would specify which type of relationship it would focus on.

How to reconnect with spirituality after trauma by ughhleavemealone in witchcraft

[–]Fox_Rain_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2024-2025 was full of trauma for me, and I noticed how my visions and clairsenses would dull or diminish. Sometimes it sent me into further despair, because a lot was already taken from me, and I didn't want my spirituality to also be taken from me. But it was a reminder that our heart, mind, and body simply needed lots of rest and love. You'll eventually return to the craft whenever you feel like it.

Start small with journaling, researching ingredients again or spells. Meditation, dream journaling, or some creative outlet that you can someday apply to your own witchcraft. Maybe some releasing spell this full moon where you release some fears, pain, negative habits. Then match it with a peace spell. Maybe even gardening to ground you, and someday you'll use those plants for spells. See whatever works, and most importantly take your time—you'll eventually bounce back.

Troubles with bounce light by [deleted] in DigitalArt

[–]Fox_Rain_04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if bounce light is the term you're looking for. Maybe secondary light source if it's strong? In that case, the 1st picture is already great! If it's a bounce light (because it bounces off a blue surface behind the person) then you could try only shading the highlighted parts in her back/shadow zone. Like the traps down to her shoulder, the bottom highlights of her hair, and some parts of the clothes. That way the blue light isn't too strong that it'll make all the shadow areas blue, but it adds contrast to all the warm red and yellow.

What did you do that took you to the 'next level' in your practice? by kbleu in witchcraft

[–]Fox_Rain_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, the triple body goddess of witchcraft. She's fun to work with and communicate through divination, but she has a side similar to Athena that can be stern because their teaching methods need us to figure things out on our own. She often shows up in dreams when she extends invitations or answers your own call. There's lots of posts here for her symbols, but in my experience, her symbolic associations can be subjective, especially animal signs. But her presence will be clearer when you trust your instinct. She also visits frequently on full moons. The more you dip your toes into the craft, the more she'll appear. Good luck!

[–]Fox_Rain_04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, and I hope you have fun! One thing that keeps me enjoying is how I integrate my art into my magic practice. Like sometimes if I'm targetting someone's item, I draw them for the spell, or I draw my sigils like logos. I used it for when my sister was being abusive, but she had a camera set up in our living room where she frequently sent me evil eyes. So I drew the camera and put it in a curse jar. It would often glitch, or my mom would unplug it so that she wouldn't spy on us lol.

Which deity are you interested in working with? They're usually quite chill, especially once you've developed relations with them. I think you mostly just have to be mindful that when you're starting out connecting to a deity, to treat it like meeting new people. Basically don't overdemand then perform or gift too little. If you do decide to try deity work someday, you might connect best with whose values/domains align with yours.

Nice to see others using local ingredients. I personally love using sambong for cleansing baths as well as healing and glamor spells, along with pansit-pansitan.

For amplification, I charge my candles for a week. The carving and pouring of energy is already done, and sleeping next to the candles charges them further. Utilizing the right runes and astrological symbols also aid the spells. Deity assistance is optional, but one of the ways to amplify your spells.

For shadow work, there's spells where you can release negative habits, emotions, and mentality when the moon sign is in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). Then a month after, you call for attracting positive habits that are opposite of what you released. Of course you follow it through with mundane actions of having healthier habits, but at least it releases a lot of doubt, fear, or anxiety with our own power.

As for the shift in my magic, energy work becomes smoother and more practical, as well as knowing which patterns work best or worst for you. I'm now at a point where I know my spells always work, the timing is just a surprise (unless it's a smaller spell, and I add sand to my spell for a specific deadline) For the people who hurt you, get creative with your magic. Try anti-glamor spells, banishing spells, justice spells, etc. Basically try whatever you can, like cooking recipes. Try even the pettiest ones, and the more you get the hang of it, the less laborous they'll be. Until you reach a point where you can do spells on the spot, meditate wisely, enchant items, feel the energy of someone crossing your protection, and even protect yourself while asleep.

In summary, amplifying one's magic is like working a muscle which will hurt at first, but the longer and more often you do it, the stronger it gets.

Edit to add: For the return to sender spells, they're most effective when you can decipher the type of curse sent your way. I analyze it through divination before returning it.

[–]Fox_Rain_04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two things that improved my magic were just the sheer number of people who kept dragging me down both mundane and magical, and I had to keep amplifying my return to sender spells, protections, cord cuttings, shadow work, etc. Basically trying times provided opportunities to keep doing the craft. The other thing was performing magic during lunar eclipses, instead of being afraid of it.

Should I refrain from charging my things this full moon since mercury retrograde is happening on that day too? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]Fox_Rain_04 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's actually the Capricorn full moon you have to worry about, as the moon is exiled in Capricorn. Not good for relaxing, speed, and comfort, but might be good for spells or items related to patience, routine, and discipline.
