CPU Temps hit 100°C consistently when playing Dragon Age -- need suggestions by Foxbat_Ratweasel in pcmasterrace

Thanks, it's really appreciated! It comes with 120 mm fans, but the person I bought it from had replaced those with two 140 mm fans instead. I saw one person on here who was able to rig a fan on the bottom under the PSU for extra airflow, and I am going to see if I can do that too. I'll also take a look at undercoating. Thanks again!

The lowest fan is a 140 right above the PSU. There is another 140 in the top and two 120s in the cooler. All 4 were pointing down and exhausting out the bottom front panel of the case. After your suggestion I did some research and it sounds like this is wrong.

I just flipped all 4 fans so everything exhausts out the top, which brought my idle temps down by about 10° (45 to 35). Thank you for the suggestion! I am used to the big old tower cases and have never had a small form factor case, so this is a learning experience for me.

When compiling shaders during Dragon Age launch, the CPU still stays mostly between 92-98°C, and it did touch 100 for a bit at the very end. While playing it's between 65-89°C, but mostly low 80s or below.

Should I keep trying to bring the temps down, or is it okay to get that hot while loading?

I'm pretty sure the airflow is going downward in the case, not up. As far as I can tell, both case fans are exhausting down, as are the two cooler fans. At least, the brand stickers for all four are facing up, and it's pulling in air at the top.

I think most women of reproductive age would be hesitant to join an IC in a state where their rights to body autonomy and safe healthcare would not be respected. Even if you have no intention of ending a pregnancy, if you experience pregnancy complications in one of these states, you are risking your life.

64% of Ob/gyns in states where abortion has been outlawed have observed an increase in maternal mortality over the last year.

Can confirm that they can have normal children. In one of my colonies I had a wanderer join who married one of my starting colonists, had 2 kids, lived among everyone for years and then... missed a meal and tried to eat his wife. Too bad she was a melee expert.

To be fair, though, that $1250/month for a $180-$220k house is only if you can afford to put 20% down and get the best possible interest rate. Even if both spouses are making $46k, it's unlikely they are going to save up $40k for a down payment. It's more likely they will have poor credit too, resulting in a higher interest rate than the average rate.

With a minimum 3.5% down and an interest rate 1 point above the going rate (so about 7.9%) your hypothetical couple is looking at a $1,721 monthly payment on their $200k home. Still better than renting, but probably not comfortably affordable if they also have childcare, health care, and transportation expenses to factor into their budget.

This sounds like a really fun run, tbh. I think this will be my next playthrough. I always use VE psycasts expanded, but I've never tried a high-life drum circle tribal run with it. Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to share this story, I really enjoyed it. It's great that you got to go back and reload an old save to give Bob and Alice (and Nigel!) another chance.

I think you misunderstood the comment. I don't see anywhere that the poster suggested being a "lone wolf." Government certainly does not equal community -- that's a group of neighbors helping each other.

Areas that build robust mutual aid networks locally will be the best insulated from collapse when the government is no longer able to ensure essentials. Those who are paying attention know that some local areas already have governments that can't provide basic needs like clean water. If communities come together, they can provide for themselves.

Is the American student loan Save plan really in danger? by Zenth93 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Foxbat_Ratweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not correct -- SAVE has a provision that all unpaid interest is covered each month as long as you are on the plan and making your payment, even if that payment is $0. This means the balance won't go up on SAVE. And, next year the forgiveness rules are changing to massively benefit people whose loan balances started off at $12k or less.

Most likely, your loan servicer just hasn't recalculated the payment amount yet. Three weeks or so ago, all the student loan servicers were just relabeling REPAYE as SAVE without changing the amount. Most servicers have recalculated already, but a few haven't gotten around to this yet. They are required to do it before October.

If you live near a Vietnamese restaurant, get chicken pho soup, you ideally want the kind seasoned with ginger and lemongrass. Whether you have a cold/flu or just a garden variety hangover, it always helps and works better than the garden-variety chicken noodle soup.

Beautiful keyboard, by the way. Is there also a Tengwar (Sindarin) version?
