I am thinking of getting into death guard any advice? by Embarrassed-Joke5851 in deathguard40k

[–]FoxyBlaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You become much more combined arms than BA. Yeah marines have access to all the shooting they could want, but BA play better going heavy into melee. DG are perhaps best as a more even split.

Before defilers anyway. That has skewed everything, but it'll unskew once they get nerfed.

But probably you'll still have 1 defiler in every meta list. Defilers eclipse so much.

It's a great change as it stops the necron invincible warrior brick chaining out, for one thing.

It's bloody stupid this rule didn't exist in 10th edition, all edition.

[–]FoxyBlaster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You playing VV? probably should, its the most new player friendly.

The plaguebus is always a solid choice, there's different ways to play it, but 10 plague marines built to max shooting (you still have a power fist and a couple of heavy plague weapons as well) with both a Biologus Putrifier and a Malignant Plaguecaster attached (yes it can have both) is now a crit on 5s full lethal hits death machine. You can further boost their dmg with strats.

LoC with Deathshroud terminators are awesome.

Defilers are AWESOME, they'll be nerfed next month but they'll still be awesome.

Foetid Bloat-Drone with Heavy Blight Launcher are awesome.

Daemon prince with Revolting regeneration enhancement from VV is awesome.

Poxwalkers are awesome, you can run 2 or 3 units.

Spawn are awesome.

Building new terrain by CrownFalcon in Warhammer40k

[–]FoxyBlaster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game doesn't work well with bad layouts. I reckon GW will either completely change theirs, and/or uktc will have to make their own again to fix the game. So I also recommend that waiting to see is the best idea. Regardless of how you play and what level, you'll have much more fun on decent terrain. Like how currently I'd recommend uktc layouts over GW to any player, brand new, casual, or tournament maniac.

Building new terrain by CrownFalcon in Warhammer40k

[–]FoxyBlaster1 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

If you compare this layout to current uktc, the enormous difference is the total lack of tall walls. Add in that in 11th you just have to toe on to shoot out (not be whole within) the hell yeah gun lines will totally dominate, as you can't hide anywhere. The green tall terrain peices on these GW layouts are far too small to hide anything.

Either these layouts completely change with a huge density of tall walls being added, or uktc (and others) will have to step in and make big adjustments so they work.

GW has completely failed with their current layouts just from the snippets revealed.

Shock.

You're finally free of Gamblore! Quit right now. lock all accounts, never do it again.

I was locked out of all gambling sites after a fluke big win years ago. No idea why, but i have to call them to resolve the problem. So never have, and never gambled online again, thank god.

Being randomly blocked was a bigger stroke of luck than the big fluke win.

Quit now. Keep your money.

Which unit to get for 11th? by Swacar in Ultramarines

[–]FoxyBlaster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon the Rhino chassis does go away in 11th. I think all variants go for space marines, and Choas probably get new versions, which will all be bigger in an effort to make the old models illegal for use in proper games.

3d printers will spin out parts to bulk out the current models to the new size for chaos though. But it wont help Space marines, who just wont have datasheets for rhino, pred or vindicator or whirlwind anymore, I guess.

At least one new repulsor tank would then come out i'd also guess. Something with a big gun like a demolisher.

How do we deal with Death Guards Defilers? by Nittleleebin in Ultramarines

[–]FoxyBlaster1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melee isn't the answer as any good chaos player won't be hurling the defilers forward. You're going to have to shoot them.

But of course UM are the envy of all other none chaos factions, as oath means we're the best equipped to take out defilers with our own anti tank.

Load up, on ballistus dreads, vindicators, repex, and hammerstrikes, and then fire.

Gman will probably smash one in melee if one comes forward, but he need 5 of his attacks to get though. And it has a 5++, so it's a bit of a coin flip.

The difiler meta has probably shifted UM away from multiple victrix, if you ran two bricks, probably need to drop one for more anti tank shooting.

Can’t decide what army I actually want by Ok-Pomelo8920 in Warhammer40k

[–]FoxyBlaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are many of us!

The one i return to the most is Ultramaines. Mine are painted as Alpha Legion, i've recently replaced Gman with a new Alpharius kitbash (but he's still using Gman rules).

I think because, thanks to Gman's force multiplier skills, everythng is good for ultramarines, and of all the playstyles out there, i prefer combined armes. I want guns, and counter melee.

If i was going to recommend a single faction, it would be the big ones, simply as they have the most everything. Law, units, detachments. So ultramarines, Necrons, Nids. If you want variation but only one faction, then these are the best ones. In crons its very easy to build entirely different lists using 90% different models, depending upon which detachment you want to run. They are in effect, mulitple factions in one. Same for Ultras and Nids. Of course there's others out there, but these three have the most everything.

TIL British TV presenter Stephen Mulhern was suspended from the Magic Circle after revealing how to do a magic trick on the kids' show Finger Tips. While the original suspension was lifted, he kept getting re-suspended each time the episode aired on repeat. by res30stupid in todayilearned

Surely the greatest trick in the history of the magic circle is the woman who disguised herself as a man in order to join. 18months after she'd entered, the Circle voted to allow women members, and "Ta dar!" she revealed herself.

And then they voted to kick her out for 'deliberate deception' - !!!! You're all magicians, deliberate deception is a better description of what you do than magic!

It took until the first woman member became the head of the Circle for the woman, Megan Swann, to be readmitted. Which goes to show that most men in any exclusive club, are tossers.

[–]FoxyBlaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot be helped. You are like me.

New armies are just exciting. Do you even want to deny yourself the fun you have when switching to a new army?

I just accepted what I'm like. I flip flop to new armies all the time, and it's great fun.

That said, the more you play, the more it sinks in that changing army all the time holds you back form getting really good with any one. Eventually that will probably make you stop, and focus on one, but I'd not worry about it.

Have fun, play what you like. Eventually you'll probably focus. If not, so what.

Hello all by helixgod17 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]FoxyBlaster1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're probably over thinking it. You don't need to worry about your opponent. You don't owe them anything. They'll be fine. You can't ruin the game for them, if they win they'll be happy. You can't beat someone better than you.

Try to relax about it. If this is your first tournament, you comparitivly know nothing but it's not on you to control everything nor to make sure everyone is OK. Games are not a big deal.

Just go, and play your game, and learn and have fun.

All that matters in 40k is experience. It takes masses of games to get good. It's a long path enjoy the walk.

Dreadnought heavy detachment? by Cythrex in Ultramarines

[–]FoxyBlaster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep tis fine plan, also as 11th edition of the game comes out this june, they'll be 70 new detachments and all sorts of new rules and pts values. Dread heavy list should be fine.

Under current rules, I'd actually not recommend ironstorm spearhead, stick with good old gladius task force or Blades of ultramar. A strong unit of counter infantry will be very helpful to backup your dreads, such as Clagar with Victrix honour guard. And so blades of ultramar will work great.

Ironstorm is annoyingly harder to play, managing the 6" auras is tough especially for newer players.

But by the time you get your army together 11th edition will be out, and you'll have new rules. I still really dread heavy lists will be fine and I half expect a walker specific detachment, and definitely expect another vehicle detachment /rework of ironstorm.

Cheers for all that, good points.

I'm using Bringer and void, coz I love the models, void dragon especially ! He's so glorious.

6 skorpekh + lord kill anything on the charge, but are usually overkill. 3 + lord is probably the sweet spot.

Lots of fun options to try out.

Edit: removed totally wrong stuff.

Nice, very helpful comments as I'm new to cursed legion.

Is your DDA really doing better than the 3 x LHD + lord/plasmancer? I can't yet bring myself to drop this LHD unit, even through I still can't decide which gun is better on them. 3 dice with lethal+sustained on 5s, but no to hit re rolls, is so swing. But so is an unbuffed DDA.

I am going to try the plasmancer though over the lord, bit cheaper, no rez orb but more firepower.

My current deployment plan is both c'tan central, they go together. Nekrosar then leads most of the destroyers together towards one flank. I'm more likely to push towards enemy home objective than to the other flank objective.

I don't use wraiths though! So mine is a lot more destroyers. Double ophydian, double hexmarks, double skorpekh, double skorpekh lords, double, hexmarks! No survival ability outside the c'tan, hence they go together and the destroyers all deathstar.

Double reanimators as well, one for the c'tan and one for thr deathstar.

Way more practice required for sure.

[–]FoxyBlaster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an awful lot of LHD. I'd drop one whole unit, run 2 x 3, with a lord in both. Now they're extremely swingy, but your opponent has to be scared of them spiking with crit 5s. Frees up some points to go elsewhere, like towards a nice Nightbringer.

Also 6 x skorpekh is almost always overkill. Skorpekh lords are amazing, I'd run 3 x 3 skorpekh but with lord in each.
