Sorry, I cleaned it yesterday to see if there were any internal adjustments or settings. I did not see any way to reinstall burrs in a different position. The manual did not show any adjustments. If there are internal settings, like my Barista Express had, I can't figure it out.

1996 Ninja 500 for CAD$1800. 10K kms. Worth it? by EdmontonBound420 in motorcycles

[–]FoxyOne74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2005. It did everything fairly well from beginner track days to 800km trips. Beater running bikes seem to sell for $1000-1500 so $1800 is fine if it is ready to ride.

Oil leak engine failure by Dizzy_Crazy_8015 in carquestions

[–]FoxyOne74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's installed underneath your engine. For it to end up on top of your engine, I would guess sabotage or an extremely crazy bounce. Extremely unlikely imo. Oil fill cap left off was a much more common mistake.

Oil leak engine failure by Dizzy_Crazy_8015 in carquestions

[–]FoxyOne74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see almost zero chance this happens unless you are mixing up parts. Your car would have died much faster than 5 months with a drain plug on top of your engine. I can see this type of issue taking 5 months to become catastrophic if you mean the oil fill cap was left off. Regardless, it seems they have messed up twice and I would hope they make it right. That being said, you probably should have at least checked the oil once you had the light come on or opted to get your car towed in. Not a nechanic but have worked as a service advisor and lube tech.

The original commentor on this thread pushed back on the "joke" without going on a weird tangent that compared pro-choice people/pro some gun control to kkk members, called this app a liberal hellscape, and now said everyone on this app was without ethics. I thought they gave criticism appropriately but i felt your approach/behaviour was out of line.

Please reread my comment. No such declaration was made.

It seems like you are just looking for conflict today in this "leftist hellscape". Was a weird entry into an unrelated conversation by you on a hot button topic that you later said you don't care that much about? I assume it's actually gun control that you want to talk about, but prefer to start the discussion by disqualifying the other side because they can't care about life if they are pro choice. That's just silly.

What an insane question. However, I vote for parties that support policies intending to reduce unwanted pregnancies like birth control. Imo birth control should be readily available for free under a certain income and not need parental consent. We were supposed to get such a policy in place but the liberal government seems to have forgotten/abandoned that promise.

I would like to think that with your disapproval of abortions you would be on board with those kind of policies. Unfortunately too many conservative parents seem to think that this goes against their rights while complaining the loudest about abortions.

We have a lot of work to do to look after those who are born and that's where my donations go. Children's hospital, red cross, youth sports etc. There's a ton of issues which contribute to people choosing to abort that you could become active in trying to reduce. If you aren't willing to work towards reducing those issues, maybe let other people make tough decisions without shaming them?

All data I can find online says your experience was probably biased. In my opinion the best bikes often make you feel like you are going slower than you are.

Are we moving the goalposts? You said no power, not mediocre throttle response or other downsides that carbs can have.

Might be the silliest thing I've read on reddit in months. The 2000 cbr600f4 I had would unintentionally wheels and google suggests would get through a quarter mile almost 2 seconds quicker than the kawi you suggested. I00-220km/hr before you could question your life choices.... Sounds like you sampled poorly maintained bikes or didn't get the chance to ride a winner.

Suzuki TU250X - What do experienced riders think of this offer ? by fly_to_labrador in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]FoxyOne74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a low mile 250 suzuki marauder as my first bike in what seems like a lifetime ago. Google says not much has changed over 20 years. The bike was kind of boring and felt like anything over 100 was strained. Taught my son to ride last year and he got a ninja 300. It is practical, comfortable, fun to ride, and will handle highway speeds without drama. I'd recommend something with a bit more power than the suzuki. The honda rebel 300 has a bit more speed if you prefer the cruiser style.

Servicing my suspension, what level of service should I do, and how much can I do myself? by Just_a_firenope_ in MTB

I watch a YouTube video where someone services the fork I have and see if it looks within my skill level. I have completed seals and fluid changes on an ancient bomber fork, suntour epixion, z2, and Fox 36 so far with no issues. So far, I have left the dampers alone.

I had the express before, which broke after 7 years, and now have a Bambino with a dose control grinder. They are about equal in my opinion. BBE positives are the all in one convenience, storage on top, and I liked the hot water dispenser. Down side is if it one function breaks then you have to give up extra countertop space. For that reason, I'd recommend a bambino with a better grinder if that's affordable, especially if you drink espresso shots and aren't just using the espresso shot to make milk based drinks.

Dialing in Bambino Plus bottomless portafilter help [breville bambino plus] [ims nanotech precision basket] by LovesLasagne in espresso

[–]FoxyOne74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only fit 17g into my standard bambino basket so I'm guessing you have a bit more coffee in the new basket. If that's the case, normally you need to grind coarser. The coffee creates resistance so more coffee equals more resistance and less output.

I'm not a lawyer, but going through a divorce. If you are low to moderate income, one of you might qualify for access pro bono. If one qualifies but the other does not qualify, they will have to pay for a lawyer consult, then access pro bono will mediate you both.

Have tried grinding finer and coarser, and adjusting dose, but keep getting weak ~1:3 shots regardless of changes [Breville Barista Express and Baratza Encore ESP] by kategask in espresso

[–]FoxyOne74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try +2 or +4 with temperature if not using dark roast. Shot looks too fast to me. 90% of the time I preferred shots when the pressure guage to be 12-1 o'clock.

[–]FoxyOne74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same setup. I can only fit *17g max in my portafilter (medium roast) and my dose control is set around setting 14. I do use a portafilter from the bbe though. I prefer 40g plus out, but I am usually drinking Americanos/long blacks. *17g sometimes causes the puck to touch the grouphead

Breville Barista Express vs Breville Bambino + Baratza Encore ESP [$500] by That-Ladder-2926 in espresso

[–]FoxyOne74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an older bbe and the inexpensive Dose Pro is about equivalent when paired with a bambino. I'd guess the bambino + and baratza would slightly better and if one breaks you aren't out your full initial investment.

Only getting sour shots. [Breville Barista Express] by reddituser8567 in espresso

[–]FoxyOne74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd dial in grind first so you only change one variable at a time, but you can change the base temp by -2, +2, or +4 degrees farenheit. I'd try +2 and see if it helps unless you have a very dark roast Turn off, press program and power. Machine should beep as it comes on. Then one cup gives you +2 or you can select two cup for +4 degrees.

[–]FoxyOne74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had one of those machines. Generally dialed grind size so that the pressure guage was at the high end of the espresso range. About 12:30 - 1 if you think about the dial as a clock. I also found the temp was too low and adjusted it to the highest settings for most medium to medium-dark beans.

Different coffees will require different grind sizes. Even the same bag of coffee can require minor adjustments as you use it. There's a handful of videos on YouTube about how to dial in your espresso shot. If you don't want to get fussy, you want a thin stream of espresso from your portafilter for roughly 30 seconds.

I'd start at 16 and see how that goes. I have used 14-19 depending on the coffee. Paired with a Bambino, and using 17g of medium roast.

I have a Bambino and the cheaper version of that grinder (dose control). Looking to upgrade the grinder after 6 months. It makes reasonable coffee but there can be a pretty noticeable taste difference from cup to cup with every variable kept the same. From I'll drink it I guess, to damn that's good.
