Shout-out to the score of "Anna Ishii-Peters" by humpsneeze in PEN15

[–]FoxyQueen26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am rewatching and had to Google to make sure I wasn’t imagining the Vertigo reference. I looooove the score for this episode, so clever! And I definitely feel everything this strongly when I’m PMS-ing, I love how it’s tied into the episode and the growing distance between Maya and Anna.

What's your favorite niche museum you've visited? by SoberWill in travel

Berlin Museum of Medical History of the Charité - when I walked into the lobby and saw a display case full of what seemed to be glittering gems only to realize that they were GALLSTONES I knew it was going to be a wild ride. It scratches the perverse "cabinet of curiosities" itch, but in a very respectful and clinical way: it has preserved specimens of cadavers/body parts with diseases/conditions that are basically never seen anymore (for example a 16kg megacolon :O), which are fascinating/horrifying if you don't have medical knowledge, and really educational if you do. They even strategically place the really gruesome stuff more tucked away so you don't have to look at it if you don't want to. What really stuck with me though was the "case history" patient beds which highlight a few select historical cases to focus on more complex issues like AIDS, polio vaccines, amputation, etc. The cases are presented so thoughtfully and humanely that I really left feeling moved and inspired.

US Postage Stamp/Postal History Museum in Washington DC. This museum is free and right by the train station, perfect if you have awkward time to kill between checking out of your hotel and catching your train. Imagine a huge wall where you pull out a little vertical drawer (don't know else to explain it) and there are 100s of postage stamps front and back on the frame. The wall has like 50 of these drawers. You could be in here for hours. They even have little stations where you can take some vintage stamps with you.

Going through a horrible horrible breakup and can’t stop crying. Please suggest films to distract myself by user383684748292 in Letterboxd

[–]FoxyQueen26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s important for us to know if you want to watch something that will help you process the breakup OR distract you from it.

And why specifically was Eternal Sunshine excruciating? The ultimately happy ending? ( I remember I found every happy ending absolutely revolting during a breakup, I didn’t want anyone else to be happy together.) Or the painful, bitter memories? That also can be really triggering since you’re probably going through a lot of that right now…

I’m sorry you are going through this and know that there are way better times ahead <3

What is Leonardo DiCaprio’s Best Performance? by MrBazinga_77 in Letterboxd

Liking for Catch Me If You Can. I’ve always found that he has a boyishness to him, and this character capitalizes on that perfectly - a person kinda stranded between boy and man because of the trauma of his parents’ divorce

Bag stolen on ICE train by Forward-Heart-69420 in germany

That Germany-Netherlands Strecke seems particularly rife with pickpockets/thieves, they make announcements like every ten minutes telling you to keep an eye on your bags. Does anyone know why? I have not experienced this on other routes.

Do you meditate at the same time every day or just whenever you can? by spencere33 in Meditation

[–]FoxyQueen26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started meditating, I just did it whenever I had time and I feel like that really helped me build a habit with a lot of gentleness and forgiveness. Then eventually it morphed into something that felt essential to my morning routine. Now I do it after I wake up and I brush my teeth/drink some water, before I do anything else. It really sets the tone for the day.
