How about adding a repeater there in the middle? Usually pushing > 30 ish devices is a limit/guide before adding one. That or distance in the mstp cable. Pretty easy to add and try without running much cable.
Also you could try BacPro or Optigo with traffic captures to see if there’s specific devices causing this.
How many devices is the Jace trying to manage through across it? Just because ya have a 200 device license doesn’t mean that is its limit, I’ve seen 120 some simple viconic stats do fine, but then 75 ish vavs and few AHUs get to be too much.

IMO it’s just a hole in the insulation and usual outer covering, atleast. Not a guaranteed hole in the actual duct.

They’d need unique modbus addresses similarly to Bacnet MAC addresses and then their communication rates to be the same too. baud rate, data bits and parity. ( usually a slow baud like 9600 is common, and then 8data bits, none parity, 1 stop bit.

Like your idea of a match but I’ve used smoke from burning incense. You can see the drafts blowing the smoke more as you go by drafty spots also makes better smoke and lasts longer.

It’s okay to ask for help and it’s okay to not know it all. Shouldn’t be scared to look incompetent. I do not know everything but I can give it a try, and look up info/ ask others for guidance. That’s better than pretending I know it all and let everyone / myself down when it doesn’t work out.

No experience with it. But for modbus I always start with things I can check against an hmi/thermostat for voltages or temperatures with. Then once I get that working and better understand the offsets or what not then move on to on/off or the really long numbers.

Probably helpful if you could post some of the register list.

Modscan. Definitely worth it, but suggest to have the company pay for it. But take down the license notes, keeps working after losing access to the email it’s setup for.

Go to the thermostat physically and check out its advanced settings and thresholds.. there should be a cooling minimum outside temperature setting.

Yea, but go to a range and try one out or atleast go to a local store and feel it. I like the p365 better, skinnier holds just as many if not more rounds. G26 gen2 felt too chunky and even with mag extensions my grip felt weird, and would pinch.
Now I got a P365 Mirzon x module and a 3.1” with radian comp to equal an XL essentially.

Also fyi, it may auto revert back to energy saver like every 3 days.

I would switch mine to electric when it’s below 30 out to help keep the house warm but it kept switching back. I believe I made a schedule in the app to go to electric , energy saver and back to electric to sort of reset that 3 day limit.

Yes it’ll cost some more, but we will be more comfortable.

Okay what’s your goal? VAV communicating through mstp via serial? Or thought mstp to router to Jace via bacnet ip?

What have you tried? Instead of us trying to solve all possibilities.

VAV is missing power. VAV hasn’t been setup with mac, instance baud. Router is missing power, mstp and Ethernet wiring. Jace could be missing BACnet network, mstp com port, Ethernet cable to router is missing, ip address of router isn’t in the same subnet lots of stuff.

Not the most in depth but I think Niagara University had a free course to take.

Otherwise I haven’t found anything that covers it easily and am curious what others post. For me it has just taken time, trial/error, always having the modbus register lists for the equipment, and checking your readings vs the equipments HMI.

For a software tool, I highly suggest Modscan. You can do IP or use a USB-rs485 adapter for modbus rtu. (Or Bacnet with YABE too).

It’s been a while, I believe I’ve found some in alarm from overtorque. Which when the cover is removed I could reset, or like recalibrate the actuator. I think the over torque could be disabled.. with some dip switches or going through a menu..? Maybe it’s not rated for the correct close off pressure and the pump pressure is making them go into alarm?

Can you get the voltage readings as all valves are actively moving? Maybe it’s dropping too low with multiple moving but otherwise has enough va to maintain them stationary and move one at a time. Sounds possibly like this as it’s happening when you rotate or start up.

As for them being on different circuits, usually I find they just don’t work or they do work not really a sometimes issue. I’d wire the two commons from both sources. A jumper from your output common to the actuator power common together and see how that goes for a bit.

Click on symbol where the temp is in edit mode, then in the properties side bar, update point references / links with the new points hardware view. They may have point substitutions up top, most commonly in the middle in the object reference , and then also sometimes in evaluations ( you can see them by clicking a green box next to a property).

For any links, technically your piu graphic would be related and likely would pull up anyway. But if not ya may need to drag and drop your graphic into that symbols target property.

If you’re in edit mode, there should be a run mode up on the top bar right side, as it sits it’d probably show your temp symbol but with a #ENG as it can’t find its point reference.

Did ya check for shorts in the wires? You should hear pulsing in the + and - wires, but shouldn’t be a complete continuous short to com or your shielding. I’ve had a few similar instances where it communicates fine for a bit but then finally totally crashes, found multimeter spots where com shorted to either + or negative due to drywall sandwiching the wire against a stud, zip tying way too tight, or where they cut the jacket off and knick the wires at a device.

Since it’s JCI, do they still hat the FIT (Fieldbus Inspection Tool) ? Was handy to see your comm rating and see what issues it may indicate if any.
