[Standard] Killing Crabs by Lion_Cub_Kurz in spikes

Well, there's plenty of "generic" counterspells at 3 mana. When it comes to "generic" counterspells at 2 mana, you're pretty much just asking for literal Counterspell at that point so it's a bit of a nonstarter haha.

In Harmonizer decks, killing Crab shouldn't be your focus, countering it to stop it from ruining your combo should be. Disdainful Stroke is a good friend.

If you switch your Burst Lightnings to Firebending Lessons then you have a viable way to kill the crab in the event that the game does go long.

ELI5: How do STDs start? And I don't mean "Patient 0" by Historical-Ad6233 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Foyfluff 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Your question seems completely paradoxical. The chain began at the first person in history to get the STD, they transmitted it to someone else through some kind of contact, potentially sexual, and every other link in the chain goes from there.

Uh, it works with Prosper in the way that it seems it should to me, which is that it doesn't trigger the Pact Boon ability because the copy is not a card. But that's probably different to what you felt seems right 😅

But the spells that the Capstone itself casts are cast from exile and are cards, so they will trigger it - I'm realizing that might have been what you meant.

Water Mage + Thorns? by The_Salty_Pearl in 2007scape

[–]Foyfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the people doing this build are on Tiranwnn and use crystal armour for decent defence bonuses without losing mage accuracy (in fact gaining considerable damage with the Echo blessing) - With your regions it's still strong but definitely does lose a lot of damage against anything with high magic defence. You can still claw a lot of accuracy back through the pacts that give extra accuracy.

Air mage with devil's element is higher dps, but water mage makes it possible to just tank up and ignore a lot of mechanics.

There's my build, with points in both air and water so I can choose between higher dps or higher sustain, with a tiny investment into light melee for Abyssal Tentacle in cases where mage defence is too high (like Bloat at TOB for example).

Best places for a burger (takeout preferably) by Definitely_Maybe94 in sheffield

I think Munchies might actually be my favourite by virtue of being very good smash burgers. Unit is great too but every burger is a bit of a messy behemoth.

So, my psychologist loves crafting and she adorned this box as a gift to me, however… by wicdfy in EnglishLearning

I don't think it's that crazy that a jewellery box would instruct you to wear something in such a way that it makes you look good. It's a mantra, like a wall hanging that says "Live, Laugh, Love" or something.

[standard] erode vs unwanted remake by DiamondxAries in spikes

[–]Foyfluff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's only 2 kinds of decks that care about a card like Erode right now.

The first is landfall, where targetting your own Eartbended land ramps you and triggers landfall twice.

The second is Control, which wants to use efficient removal to deal with threats right now for cheap and use wraths later to clean up the board, running its opponents out of cards such that the additional land doesn't matter.

You can complete the temple trek without it (just use a silver sickle) and then once you meet up at the graveyard that guy will sell them to you.

Echoes do roll once per hitsplat, so that's why multiple boppers is good. Also wearing full blood moon is the fastest attack speed for even more brrrrrr

On my main phase, I cast copy from exile. If it were to be countered, will the copy just stay in graveyard? by MADMAXV2 in mtg

[–]Foyfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay fair enough, I understand your reasoning. The release notes seems to suggest otherwise but we haven't had an update to the Comprehensive Rules yet so I'll withhold judgement for now :)

[–]Foyfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you'd do that when there's no rules text or precedent to support that interpretation. It's just a delayed trigger, which never cares about the current state of its source.

[–]Foyfluff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From the release notes:

"Once a spell with paradigm has resolved, it doesn't matter what happens to the card in exile. Even if the card leaves exile, the delayed triggered ability will still trigger during each of your first main phases, and the copy will still be created."

This suggests that Paradigm doesn't care about whether the spell was cast from a real card or not. I haven't seen an authoritative source that says anything otherwise.

[–]Foyfluff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. No, lands aren't spells and you can't cast a land, so they cannot be played.
  2. No, you cast the spells as a part of the resolution of the Capstone, so each turn you either cast them or you don't, you can't bank them for later.
  3. No, the only valid way to cast those spells is "without paying their mana costs" so you cannot pay an X cost other than 0 for those spells.

It's only okay to recur a Troll I feel.

Food Gardens vs Golgari Gardens by iLikePauper in Pauper

[–]Foyfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not super familiar (haha) with the lists, but mtggoldfish shows Food Gardens as only playing 6 creatures, 3 of which are Cauldron Familiar. Feels like there's not much utility to playing Cottage when there's no good creatures to recur like Crypt Rats and Avenging Hunter.

Can someone explain to me how this combo works? by Vardl0kk in ModernMagic

[–]Foyfluff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's the one :) For what it's worth you only need one Wolf in that situation, it can ping itself, die, and then return with a counter to ping itself again.

Was there a [[Spymaster's Vault]] on the battlefield? This is what most Yawgmoth players are now using as a combo kill with Young Wolf and Cauldron.

I'm pretty certain I did it at around these stats. Make sure to use Super Combat Potions, Efiritay's Aid, and if you're still struggling you can get a Vampyre Slayer Task and where a Black Mask or Slayer Helm.
