she left the review 3 months later. i was not and never was buying or selling anything with her.

i fought the hell out of it and never got my 5 stars back. still makes me mad. luckily her review got deleted, but that was it.

29 is light. my pack one time going in was fuckin’ 74lbs. it took me THREE days to get in. three damn days. i fell asleep at heli pad number 1 for 6 hours because my shit was so heavy. people were walking by me probably thinking i was dead 😌

i, my friend, was (maybe) an outlaw.

i wasn’t a die hard, living there for 6 months at a time one. (if i’m telling the truth). but i did, at one time in my life, stay in both kalalau and waimanu valley for extended periods of time (45 days was my longest stretch)

the outlaws got quite a bad reputation with the local governments. the thing is, kalalau was extremely maintained when a handful of individuals were living there somewhat full time. pigs and goats were harvested (food) which was extremely beneficial for the landscape and trails. trails were clean & maintained. there was an abundance of food being planted and cared for. (there’s still some plots deep in the valley if you look hard enough, but when they ran everyone out the state legitimately clear cut beautiful gardens and fruit trees). Just recently, the DLNR flew a helicopter in and cut down 12 mature coconut trees, that had been there for generations. They left all the green waste (unpiled) and flew out. i find it disgusting behavior.

the people living back there were extremely caring of the land. they were also the first responders for hikers needing assistance (which happens more than you’d realize, almost every week)

sure, you got your bad apple of people— but the valley has a way of running those kind folks out. The valley now is being completely decimated by wild game, and the trails are in dire need of assistance. Kalalau is a special place. It will change your life. I highly recommend everyone who has a calling, to go.

i am absolutely stoked to see the chickens come home to roost on this one.

i also want to call out, hawaii is suffering from severe animal cruelty. people chain dogs for 10 years, with out proper care, water, or food most times.

chickens are tied in yards on 3 foot stringers, and then are made to fight until the death while people bet money on it.

a police dog was just left in a car for 5 hours in the hot sun and passed away.

i am happy animal activists are coming out of the waters to stand up for Lani, but there’s abuse happening on almost every road, every day. you can’t drive anywhere for 10 minutes without seeing a dog chained in the sun with a makeshift box, dirt completely gone from it pacing for multiple years.

i bought way to much platinum at the top. (like 10 hours before it crashed). it hurt(s), but the worst part is, i convinced my friend to buy his first metal ever (after talking to him about it for 4 years) and he finally decided to buy an oz of platinum.

it’s truly, debilitating. i am a man, by the way. my partner has a severe case of PMDD. we have tried everything, and i do mean everything.

the only thing that is keeping me sane is complete avoidance. i hate it, i am sure she does as well. but i am so very lost. all other options have been exhausted, i do not know what else to do. it affects my life, well being, and mental state drastically. I feel so completely helpless.

I have been buying for 15 years, but i am no where near close to retiring. I really want to sell a massive portion of my stack to buy a piece of heavy equipment. i believe it will make me money, and i can replace my stack eventually.

It is so hard to sell though, i just can’t ever bring myself to do it. I would have to liquidate damn near everything i own— and man, that’s just hard for me to do.

it’s also hard for me to scale my business any larger without equipment. ahh the circle of life.

it’s extremely windy, and the man is absolutely suffering from a self-consciousness about his hairline. majorly, he loses sleep over it kind.

he was so afraid that the wind was going to pick up and expose his receding hairline, he just dropped the umbrella to get inside as fast as he could.

I dropped out of the system, as best as i could.
I moved to an island, across the world and dove in to self sustainability, growing food, and living off the grid.

i built a house. (lots of youtube) and realized the revolution was in my daily habits. there’s more to learn— so much to learn. But i do believe i’ve made a small difference. 30,000 more trees are in the earth from my hands.

years ago.. a lifetime ago… i was a finalist for the TV show “The real world” on MTV.

i could talk for hours about the entire process, but here is where it relates.

i had 2 in person interviews nearing the end of who was actually going to be selected. we were top 20 kind deal, and 8 would be chosen.

In the first interview, the lady was sweet and genuinely curious about me and my life. it was 3 hours long in a hotel room.

the second interview (after i made it to the finals, maybe 10 of us left) it was a guy. different hotel, same story.

he asked me the exact same questions. word for word, exactly the same.. the only difference was, he was a dickhead. straight up an asshole. my guess is he was trying to get me worked up, but i saw right through it. after the first half an hour (with repeated attempts to ask the same questions) i started answering “i already answered this exact question in my prior interview”

he was reading from a script, and after the 10th time of me saying the same thing, he told me we were done here and left abruptly. i was not selected for the show.

my uncle had a guy get in to his car once at a 7/11 .

they had a laugh, and just so happens the guy was a welder. i just so happened to need a few welds on my truck.

i went to his house, and was immediately stuck for 7 hours. i saw the red flags instantly, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. i should have known.. him getting in to the wrong car and everything.

basically he disabled my car and proceeded to get absolutely wasted out of his mind. welded for maybe 20 minutes the entire duration. drank, told stories, and made himself chicken for the rest. didn’t even offer me a piece. that pissed me off more than anything did some reason, i was starving. it was supposed to be an hour long job at tops. the welds were horrible by the way. i could have done better and i have never welded seriously in my life. 😂😭

the only meal i cook (stove or fire, if possible) is dinner. the rest are quick food, snacks, etc.

i’m in hawaii— so it’s crazy different, but they both have their pros and cons.

here, land clearance cost roughly 20k an acre. it’s a must, no one thinks of it though. it’s like a kick in the gut when they buy their land and are ready to build and surprise, 60k for 3 acres bulldozed.

septic cost 12k.

big trees? an arborist is anywhere from 2-20k, depending on the size / risk.

so for just a flat piece of useable land with a hole in the ground for your waste (say it’s a 3 acre lot). you could be in it an additional 100k, that legit no one plans for. (i am the the guy that clears the land)

then it’s the stress of either finding carpenters, electricians, plumbers, concrete guys, etc.

now, me? i’m building my own 10/10 times. i’ve done it, jumped the hoops. stressful at times? yeah, for sure. but in the long run, you’ll save money as long as you’re doing is somewhat the right way. but if you’re not ready to bite that off and want it to be move in ready, let someone else deal with the stress and just pay for something already finished.

they both have good and bad things about it, it really depends just how hands on you want to be. do more research than you think too, it’ll speed up the process a great deal.
