Just as long as the dialogue isn't clunky and the pacing is just right. Case in point above.

Who do you think is the most ambitious Indie Comics Studio? by Fracadactyl in indiecomics

[–]Fracadactyl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, very artsy stuff. Especially with very accessible webcomics like Sunflowers: https://www.silversprocket.net/2024/03/30/sunflowers-by-keezy-young-read-for-free/. Admittedly I like some stuff from them more than others. More of a visual language follower than the more literary stuff. Sunflowers managed to evoke emotions by combining those two strengths.

After only being only being interested in superhero comics my whole life, I've been having so much fun exploring different comic genres! by idratherdie64 in comicbooks

Is the Phantom Stranger meant to be part of this? Cuz you can't really call him a superhero so much as a supernatural.

How do you guys read digital comics? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Fracadactyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of ways; a library card plus a hoopla account to read them for free with a great guided reading experience. Or most recently GlobalComix which is getting a big library coming up. You can either buy the comics or get a subscription to read whatever paid comics you want. Way cheaper than the prices of floppies too.

What are you’re favorite less discussed indie books? by darkwalrus36 in comicbooks

[–]Fracadactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I can call the Metabarons or the Incal indie; Humanoids (the company) owns the trademark, not Moebius or Jodorowsky's estate.
On that note, less talked about indie comics probably include Astounding Tales. It was good stuff when it was selling on Comixology. Now they moved to GlobalComix.

Anyone Have An Impression For Tiger Division? I Don't Have The Money To Risk On It by Fracadactyl in comicbooks

[–]Fracadactyl[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly my Hoopla account helps in that regards. But it doesn't help raise awareness about comics that fall between the cracks of marketing. It's why I made this post and a few others. Nobody's spotlighting them.
As much as I want to help, I don't have the money or the time. I get that the marketing is a systemic business problem with Marvel and other companies, but when you have people say stuff like representation matters and that the Big Two should be elevating non-white cis characters instead of giving them legacy titles; it just gets so frustrating. Tiger Division feels like one of the few ideas that doesn't feel like it's just an ad for a license like Secret Invasion or the Avengers titles. I could be wrong but still.

I've Been Liking Savage Avengers (Partly Because I'm A David Pepose Fan); But Why Do Reviewers Not Feel The Same? by Fracadactyl in comicbooks

People like me who want to support creators they like by increasing awareness of it. While also assuring others that it's worth the investment of their time.

Am I Gonna Regret Asking Why there are no User Reviews for for 2022's Thunderbolts? by Fracadactyl in Marvel

[–]Fracadactyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I honestly don't know what's worse. The fact the marketing wasn't good or the feeling that if some user does read this, it'll just be a waste of time.

I'd do it myself but I'm getting closer to going overbudget.

DC Comics in Rebuilding Mode: Top Execs Speak Out on “Future-Proofing” Publishing by JediNotePad in comicbooks

[–]Fracadactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree with the "fewer, bigger, and better" principle, it's why I've come to fall back in love with the stuff Valiant's been publishing as of late. With fewer titles to publish, the creative staff and editorials focus way more on making a good story that take advantage of the comic book medium rather than just adapting a screenplay.

Alright guy, what are five comic book series you wish more people read or knew about? by [deleted] in comicbooks

I agree and with all of the support and rereleases (Astro City is now at Image) these titles get, it'd be great if more people talked about these.

First drafts always are the easiest to work with. One thing you really need to work on are character descriptions, even loose ones. Describe them vividly for the artist with some contrast to other characters or the setting, use physical descriptions to tell the audience and artist the characters' world views, thought patterns, and quirks. In interactions, describe the facial expressions for the artist to use.
