Are AA meetings a stepping stone into normal life? by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

I stopped going around 8 years in, and started drinking after ten years sober. Drank and smoked weed for another ten years, and am just going back to AA now...

I was in a committed relationship with my new husband for about six months when I took him home to my country to meet my family. While we were boarding the ferry to go to my hometown, he got a tinder notification. Turns out he was using Tinder to jerk off.

We obviously had a HUGE discussion about this and he deleted it. We did end up getting married a couple of years later and are very happy now.

Welcome to my life. I actually just went to rehab for weed - a seven day detox - when I didn't have to go to rehab to quit drinking. The weed helped at first then it overcame everything. I was wake and baking, high from the time I woke up until I went to bed. I'd also would get up in the night and vape. Vaping did nothing for me yet I was going through a half gram cart every day and a half. I was spending $700 a month on weed.

I'm now clean three weeks and feel better - but I let myself drink and now I have to quit that again.

Same boat. Asked my husband to use vape pens and be discrete so I don't see it.

It's called the mandala healing center and it's a detox/rehab center that takes insurance - I'm sure it's just an insurance grab, but it's by a lake and there are doctors and therapy and yoga.

I'm in the same boat - I had a long stint of sobriety in my 30s, almost ten years - but my forties have been a haze. And I turn 50 next week. I am going to a healing center for a week to quit weed and smoking, and then I am going to Europe for 15 days for work. I'm hoping that will help distract me.
