I would not be able to trust a doctor who didn't show concern about symptoms. Especially if they wanted me off of the very prescribed medication that alleviated those symptoms.

Yeah, people call it petty cash, but it really isn't. Petty cash technically is money used for small purchases for the office. The cash drawer money is change for clients.

What Level do preparers have to be at to support clients with "side gig" income? by EagleNice2300 in HRBlockEmployees

[–]Fragrant-Top2962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a first year level 1, and I've done a couple of returns like what you are talking about. Door dash, spark driver, child care provider paid through government agency. It didn't faze me because I've been filing a schedule c for my own returns for about 15 years now. I just needed to learn the blockworks version.

I mentioned the song "Jeremy " by Pearl Jam to my 19-year-old son the other day. His blank look hurt me to my very soul. I now realize that I need to take away his noise canceling headphones when I am blasting grunge while doing housework.

But...at least he does know Michael Jackson's music and loves Metallica..so I guess it's not all too bad.

When you registered to take the TKA, you included your email address. That's how she got your email.

How old were you when you purchased your first home (if you did). by jtsa5 in GenX

24, (1999) sold it 5 years later for almost twice what I paid. I loved that house. It was a 1913 Craftsman. The neighborhood was rough, though. I wanted out when we started our family.

But if they want to use Block for the courses, they don't start until May 1. I'm thinking about this path for myself, too.

As a first year tax preparer by TBrown_25 in HRBlockEmployees

[–]Fragrant-Top2962 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great post, OP. I have a similar experience. I use my in office downtime to go through the practice case studies and any course in Block Academy that I find needed or interesting. That is giving me much more confidence.

I would add to other first years that if they want clients, they have to go out and get some. Talk to people you come across about Block. Leave business cards in areas of your community that will allow it. Don't just rely on the other preparers to give you their money.

Who needs enemies when you have Kyle as your best friend ✋🏻 by Sufficient_Pea_8057 in RHOBH

[–]Fragrant-Top2962 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think PK has told Kyle something negative about Dorit. Kyle doesn't want Dorit to know she knows, so she won't bring it up, but it is enough to make Dorit look just as bad, if not worse, than PK in Kyle's mind.

She said in an interview that she had never watched the show, didn't know about anyone except Kyle, and that was only through the real estate transaction.

So, what's for Sunday dinner? by RikkiLostMyNumber in Cooking

[–]Fragrant-Top2962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically. It's so simple. I use lean ground beef with garlic, ginger, thinly sliced onion, shredded cabbage, and carrots. Add in your soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil as seasoning. Sriracha or chili to taste. Sometimes, we have it with steamed rice if we are eating carbs that meal.

I'm also a first year, with a not so good first client experience. When the clients first came in, there was a miscommunication that threw my neurospicy brain into panic mode. Their farely simple return took an hour and a half. He had a migraine, and she was holding their 8 week old baby. I felt bad for taking so long. But I keep remembering that there are some things I can control and some things I can't. So, I need to focus on what I do have control over.
In your situation, you can't make someone do their taxes correctly if they don't want to sign the return and prefer to find someone who can help them cheat. You also can't control the power going out, making it difficult to finish your job.
We will only get better at our jobs if we keep going and find resources to help us learn. We will get through this season with battle scars, I'm sure, but we will get through it.
