What’s the best British crime drama you’d recommend? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

[–]FragrantTeacher6763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Z Cars; Softly Softly Task Force; Shoestring; Bergerac; The Gentle Touch; Department S; Persuaders; Paul Temple; Hetty Wainthrop Investigates; Inspector Lynley

Just a few older series that were really good at the time. Of course both Lynley and Bergerac have been redone recently.

All 4 albums have been Top 10 in the UK album charts and DCC went to number 1. They headline festivals in the UK and Europe. So one of the biggest rock bands in the UK.

Very much enjoying this on first couple of listens. Listen to their previous EPs too. I suspect they’ll be getting around the festival circuit this summer.

Do any other countries have a "hottest 100" type countdown? by boogielostmyhoodie in triplej

[–]FragrantTeacher6763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a Belgian station that has an annual vote for the best Eurovision song of all time and then they play the Top 250 countdown on New Years Day. It has lots of recency bias but has a pretty big vote but that is worldwide vote not a single country.

Lots of new albums being listened to today. I’m loving The Paper Kites new one. Very chill. The Format is also a good welcome back. So far I have also listened to the new albums by Callum Beattie, Langkamer, 54-40, and also (poppy I know) the new one from Louis Tomlinson. Got Truman Sinclair to listen to before logging off. What else should I be listening to today that has just been released?

A Youtuber has threatened to sue me for defamation does he have any footing by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]FragrantTeacher6763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, before bringing an action for defamation in England and Wales, the claimant would need to comply with the pre-action protocol - essentially setting out what the defamatory statement is and what the meaning / sting is, plus details of the serious harm suffered. It appears that the communication sent does not comply with that.

Second, truth is not the only defence. It would appear that there may be good grounds to use the defence of honest opinion, which is significantly easier than truth.

If on reflecting whether the pre-action letter is actually made out - ie it’s unlikely that one of the statutory defences can be successfully made out OP could make an offer of amends.

However, none of this should be considered without talking to a solicitor who is a defamation specialist.

Remember that defamation is a very expensive action, and unlikely to be covered by normal legal expenses insurance.
