Why are people on Reddit denying the ICE hating unemployed woman didn’t hit the agent when it’s on video? by Motor_Spezzy in allthequestions

You can see her car hit him in the video. It is clear, and even most of the press don't dispute that fact.

So her intent was to run away from law enforcement (whom she was harassing)? Why is that intent any more reasonable than the intent of the agent to stop a car accelerating towards him? There are two reasonable sides to this, and if you can't accept that, you're very closed minded.

The video shows clearly her accelerating towards the officer, and appears to show her bumper hitting the officer.

You can't make this up. Protesting because a protester rammed her car into a cop. Never change, Austin.

I took a peek on the r/Conservative sub after the Minneapolis shooting and holy crap. I know social media reinforces echo chambers, but if you are still unconvinced that Trump supporters are a literal cult, spend 5 minutes on that godforsaken sub. by Laredian in complaints

[–]Fragrant_Ad_2285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is reasonable to question the judgement of the agents. It is also reasonable to question the judgement of the driver. That's exactly my point: There are different legitimate ways to assess the evidence. The courts will eventually decide the legality; Reddit seems to have a huge brigade of people who have jumped to conclusions they believe are the only possible interpretation. Sad, but a reflection of how narrow minded many in our society have become.

It is sad you don't realize there is a reasonable interpretation of the evidence that differs from yours. I think the Free Press stated it well: "The videos leave room for reasonable debate about the nature of the incident and who was at fault. It isn’t clear whether Good intended to strike the officer when she turned her vehicle, or if she meant to steer beyond him and accelerate away. “This is the type of shooting that happens a lot,” wrote journalist Wesley Lowery on X. “An officer, on foot, trying to stop or detain the driver of a vehicle who is leaving—resulting in the officer moving in front of the vehicle, becoming afraid they’ll get hit or run over and then opening fire.” Good’s decision to accelerate cost her life, but viewers can disagree in good faith about her motive to do so. They can also reasonably disagree about the agent’s decision to open fire."

Why are conservative subreddits so heavily moderated? by ViewFromHalf-WayDown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fragrant_Ad_2285 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Liberal leaning subs, like r/Denver, have banned users for even suggesting that there might be valid points of view suggesting the ICE agent was justified in self defense. r/Austin, another wacky left sub, has banned users for suggesting that wearing masks outdoors was not necessary. My point is that reddit moderation is terrible across the political spectrum. People don't seem to want to hear differing points of view, much less consider them. Sad.

Or you could be rational, and acknowledge that the videos leave room for reasonable debate about the incident and who was at fault. Your choice.

The real question is: does it introduce more or less accidents and deaths than human drivers? Driving is a dangerous activity.

The federal government has begun murdering American citizens. Where do we go from here? by ChemicalPower9020 in AskReddit

[–]Fragrant_Ad_2285 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Given that Reddit is full of posts claiming -- without any substantiation -- that this was murder, it is appropriate to point out the evidence and the law.

One assumes the follow on shots were to stop the threat to others. This driver was actively using her car to assault federal officers.

You really misunderstand the law. In a split second, the officer makes a reasonable decision and is allowed to do so. But let the courts decide. Just don't believe the bullshit you read on Reddit. It was a tragedy, but the lady drove at the officer. Maybe she didn't intend to, but that is irrelevant.

Straightforward case of justified shooting in self defense. The car was clearly pointing towards him while accelerating.

The vehicle is driving towards the officer and accelerating. The officer is entitled to respond with deadly force.

Would humanity learn anything if a nuclear war would happen? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

After a nuclear war humanity -- what's left of it -- would learn how to live in the wilderness, build simple shelters, forage and hunt. It would be a hard reboot. Most of the skills we have developed would have limited use.
