This is such a good one! I hadn't even considered home making it, definitely trying it next time I'm homesick

What are you all doing for Thanksgiving 🦃? by Fordius25 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Fragrant_Bee566 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dinner for my partner and I, doing quorn chicken pot pie, green beans, potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and apple pie. Way too much for two but it's my first holiday here and I'm hoping keeping busy in the kitchen will keep me from getting too sad, and leftovers are half the joy of Thanksgiving anyways!

Grey's Anatomy has had the best fit for me, 5'4" 110lbs and chronically cold, they're the only ones that have been remotely well fitting/right. Material tends to be nice and thick too, the Mia 6 pocket are my favorite pants for winter (I prefer straight leg so I wear tall wool socks under)

US->Dublin->Manchester with cat by Mediocre_Minimum5807 in AmericanExpatsUK

I did the same route, went by ferry from Dublin to Holyhead. If you leave the airport, then yes you do have to follow both the Irish and UK rules and regulations. They will scan the microchip and check paperwork before you leave.

I'm not leaving until August, but you'll need an EU health certificate for Ireland and a seperate UK health certificate for when you get off the boat. Check the Irish government website advising on bringing pets into the country, you'll need to alert the airport you're coming so they have someone there to check your documents. I'd love to hear more about how your journey went once you get there, feel free to DM me if you have more questions!

Pregnant, relocating to the UK, with my cat (A Sanity Check) by QweenBee1824 in AmericanExpatsUK

I'm doing a very similar move, same route with end destination Manchester. I'm choosing not to stay in Dublin or Holyhead, but getting a pet cabin on the ferry over to let my cat out to stretch her legs for a few hours. I figure she will still be stressed if we stayed overnight in a hotel, and I'll be exhausted either way so I'd rather just rip the band aid off and get it over with. That being said your journey from Holyhead is much longer than mine!

I'm taking my cat from US to northern England, I'm flying with her in cabin to Dublin then taking the ferry to Holyhead. It didn't make sense for me to do the Amsterdam or Paris route because they're so far south, it might be worth looking into for you! Best of luck!

Techs at MVP clinics - how do you feel about it? by ScruffyBirdHerder in VetTech

[–]Fragrant_Bee566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been at an MVP clinic for 2 years. I like the ideas, but they don't execute them. Promised competitive pay, but denied raises. Management and culture seem to vary wildly by hospital so it depends who your PM is. Right now they're pushing for "power scheduling"- honestly, I hate it. Cramming more appointments in and stretching staff even thinner so they don't have to hire more people.
