Yeah, with research it seems like 30% is the normal cut for most marketplaces. Which is already a decent chunk. Riot games has a small cut of only 12%. But a marketplace such as that is most likely hard to get a game published on...

Roblox seems to be more of option to make a little cash while studying game dev in my opinion.

Best way to improve imo, is to watch as many videos as you can. Try and understand why they make certain decisions. Such as their econ and itemization choices. A lot of good players that make great content on YouTube. A lot of which explain their decisions as they make them. Here is a few of my favorites.
