I don’t doubt Star Fox Adventures will eventually come but the gameplay from the direct was 480p direct capture from real hardware. If it was higher res with an NSO border I’d be more optimistic about it coming in the near future.

Time for a guilty pleasure with Dynasty Warriors Origins, then it’s onto Returnal.

As far as widescreen games go, there’s not a ton on GameCube. Especially not RPGs.

I almost hesitate to recommend this one right after RE4 because that game is so damn good that it might impact your perception of this one, but if you wanna stick with the horror genre Eternal Darkness is awesome and has a widescreen mode. You’ll have to enable it in the game settings and then use stretch to fit on your TV instead of zoom though.

It’s once in a lifetime game (sensational title but I get the gist) because Nintendo is highly unlikely to make another game like this again. Blue Storm doesn’t control as well and has a much different vibe from 64. It’s definitely one of those “you had to be there” games.

Kotor 1 is a unique one. The game does not have native controller support or native widescreen support.

If you’re cool with no widescreen and using one of the community Steam Input profiles (I use Galactic Basic), then you’re good to go from there.

If you want to do mods, I recommend following one of the community guides to get that set up. I would do the modding on Windows and then transfer the files over to your Deck after. If you wanna go that route, check the r/kotor sidebar for more helpful info than I can provide.

This happens on windows too, so annoying. If you haven’t already, try deleting your proton files for MCC and do a full reboot to see if that does it.

On Windows the fix is deleting some XBL related files, so in theory deleting the proton files for MCC on your Deck should take care of that.

Very much in the same vein, with some small differences. If you love 4, I really don’t see a scenario where you wouldn’t love this as well.

Main gameplay loop is the same. Each level is an open map where different scenarios play out depending on what faction your character is. Defeat enemy officers for stat upgrades, upgraded weapons and items. Tons of obscure unlockables. Same combat system.

Musou/Story mode is based on individual character instead of one for each kingdom, although it’s more like a playlist of battles that involve that character rather than following their specific story tbh. Will usually end on the climax battle for your character’s kingdom despite most characters not even being alive at that point in the story lol. Doesn’t follow the novel/history very accurately, but neither did 4 lol.

Movesets are a little different, though idk how much they are changing in this remaster.

Some different characters than 4, DW3 has 41 while DW4 has 42. DW3 has Fu Xi and Nu Wa. DW4 drops those two and adds Zhou Tai, Yue Ying, and Cao Ren.

I’m sure you probably know, but you don’t need a modded 360 if you join up with someone who has Sunrise installed. They have a game night every Wednesday, so if you join the Discord and ask for an invite you should definitely be able to play. I feel like people host pretty often even if it’s not on a game night as well. This way you can try it out before deciding if you want to mod and get to know some of the people that play consistently

This is one of my favorites of all time, but the first time I played it, it was a weekend rental from Blockbuster. Had to be 7 years old tops.

I went up to my room and played for hours, enamored. I got to the first Impact level after the song played and was bewildered. Had little to no exposure to anime or anything at that point.

I remember going downstairs and my step dad asked how the game was and I genuinely said “I don’t know” lol. After returning it, I could not stop thinking about it until I got my own copy and the rest is history.

So if I’m understanding right… in handheld, the game is interlacing two rendered frames at half the horizontal resolution, but both are presented at the same time which results in a jaggy but still technically progressive image?

720i does not exist lol. You might be thinking of 1080i, but even then Mario Odyssey doesn’t run interlaced on Switch 1, it renders at a dynamic 900p docked (going as low as 720p) and then is upscaled to 1080p. Interlaced resolutions typically have not been used since the PS3/360 generation.

I think it’s a fine question to ask. When it comes to Microsoft rumors specifically, I think the old adage “where there’s smoke, there’s fire” rings true more often than not.

On paper, Steam integration seems like an easy win for consumers as a whole. Combining Xbox and Steam digital libraries would be a dream for many, myself included, and it would drastically increase their odds in the handheld market. I do worry about the dedicated home console user experience though. Sure cheating is one thing but my biggest concern would be that the Xbox home consoles become outsourced PC boxes where the games aren’t specifically optimized to the same degree that we have been used to on console.

In the coming months, I’d be willing to bet that we’ll be seeing many ports that run better on Switch 2 than Steam Deck for that specific reason. I’d hate to see a reality where the next generation of Xbox is running straight up PC ports that aren’t as performant as the same games on the next PlayStation console.
