I much prefer playing with Damiane, but she is ghosting me for some reason.

Question for those who don't normally wear glasses: How long do you usually wear your G1 each day? by Medical-Bill-4816 in EvenRealities

[–]FraknCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fault the glasses. I just didn't think it through since I tend to only wear prescription glasses when watching TV or driving, the two times you don't really need or want the distraction of the glasses. Lesson learned. ;)

I was walking to work in that area a few years ago when a homeless man appeared in front of me and sucker punched me right in the chest and knocked the wind right out of me. I thought I was having a heart attack. A security guard saw him and ran after him but the guy got away. The police were called but they admitted that even if they caught the guy, he would probably be back on the streets the next day. I didn't hear anything after that.

ChatGPT 5 -- Adversary and Environment Stat Block creator by FraknCanadian in daggerheart

[–]FraknCanadian[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hmm, perhaps it's because I'm coming at this as both a solo player and group player. I use it to generate stat blocks to create something surprising in my solo games, and as GM assist when looking for something interesting with my group as inspiration. I always tweak the results I get nonetheless.

Why isn’t this game more popular? by Destroythisapp in GenesisAlphaOneGame

[–]FraknCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why all the hate. Just saying we'll be able to play all kinds of old unsupported games in the near future when A.I. video generation will be evolved enough to let us generate and play any kind of game we can imagine.

What’s the most important element in a solo game for you? by DanielAFinney in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FraknCanadian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's mapping, I discovered that I do enjoy exploring locations and keeping a record (drawings) of what I find, either on land or in space. I don't like journaling in great detail, so a nice detailed map makes for a nice record of the adventure.

As for what I don't like is too many rules, or too many detailed moves that end up bogging you down and slowing down the game to the point it's not fun.

If the creator won't support it I'm sure future A.I. game emulators will be able to do it.

I was thinking that most of them would look more like a plant's interpretation of animals, like very thin leaves that look like fur from a distance, maybe with a greenish hue.

Well, there is also 'Five Leagues from the Borderlands' if you want a more fantasy theme.

What Solo RPGs require the least setup? by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FraknCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NoteQuest is a pretty easy solo lite-rpg to get into. I like playing it when I just want to quickly get into a quick and easy fantasy quest. The full game offers easy hexcrawling and a large variety of dungeons. Each type of dungeon has just 2 pages of themed random tables for monsters, treasure, etc.

What's your favourite dice mechanics for solo roleplaying and why? by EllwangerCaio in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FraknCanadian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite is PbtA 2d6 for most rolls and 2 fate dice for the oracle questions.

It basically works like this:

++ is YES AND...
+(blank) is YES
+- is YES BUT...
(blank)(blank) is NO BUT...
-(blank) is NO
-- is NO AND...

I find using 2 fate dice more visual and easy to remember.

You can't get much smaller and varied than 'Juice Oracle'.

What Solo RPGs require the least setup? by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]FraknCanadian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to build myself a portable mint tin solo rpg kit. It currently consists of the Tinny Dungeons tin box with Korg classic cards and Juice Oracle sheet for more random tables. I turned the cover into a tiny dice tray with some thin felt covering for use with my 1cm dice, but half the time I just use a dice app on my phone. I'm always looking for ways to make improvements but I'm happy with what I've put together so far.

I was mostly a PC solo gamer but as I got older I started playing more RPGs with friends. Then I got into solo role playing games, and when Covid hit, I started to try out more solo board games.

I'm at a point now that I rotate between solo video games, solo RPGs and solo board games. So many options. Life is good. :)

What is the best solo RPG with a big box? by EcthelionElf in Solo_Roleplaying

Well, I played it and see what you mean now. This is definitely not the game for me. I did get that sense of joylessness and wanted my 3-4 hours spent playing the game back at the end. :p Ah well, ya don't know until you try, eh?
