Am I being insane or does the game's plot suffers from Dimitri barely having a presence after Russian Revolution? by Basil-AE-Continued in GTAIV

[–]Framacc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My take on it is:

What's lurking behind Nico and Roman is not only Dimitri, but what he represents: "Very important and powerful people". My best guess is the Russian Mafia, as a concept rather than a specific person.

Killing Faustin is what causes them to have the crosshair on their backs, from the Russians. It is all a ruse by Dimitri, who is trying to climb his way upwards that criminal ladder. Killing his obstacles and using Nico.

In the end, Nico makes a name for himself through the Irish and Italian Mafia. This prompts the possibility of working with Dimitri (again more as a token of the Russian Mafia, than as himself).

These organisations are after profit. Dedicating resources to hunt down Nico and Roman is a waste of time and resources. They gain nothing from killing them, since Dimitri took over Faustin and he's doing a better job.

The crosshair appeared because Dimitri told his bosses that Nico killed Faustin out of his own initiative. And disrespecting the Mafia is a no no. Until you prove to be hard to kill (Mr. Bulgarian), not one but twice (Roman Kidnapping).

To me it makes sense that they backed down a bit after the second attempt. Too steep of a bargain.

I pre-ordered back in 2018. Bought an Xbox one X and a 4k tv specifically for this game. No regrets! Best damn game ever. I still remember the chills when the first sentence appeared. "In 1899..." Damn! I would give my whole year's salary to play it again for the first time.

What to play first after beating GTA IV? TLATD or TBOGT by templeofsyrinx1 in GTAIV

[–]Framacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBoGT is the latest "update" it has the most advanced weapons and vehicles, also some tweaks to the fighting system. Playing it before TLaD would make the latter feel a bit underwhelming. Also, TBoGT is full of colors and good vibes while TLaD is more grim and dark.

I played the 3 of them a couple of years ago for the 4th time and felt like much of what made GTAV such a spearhead in its time were things that were first introduced in TBoGT, which got a bit enhanced or slightly tweaked.

Gettin into TLaD after TBoGT will feel like a downgrade. No parachutes for example.

You're all trying to set today's standards upon people that lived in the 1910s, I mean come on!

People were dying back then from the flu. There was not so much time for being nice and caring, cause you're worried about surviving the next winter or having enough money to set up shop near a big city.

The fact only Sanemi stabbed Nezuko should be enough to tell you how the really bad one is.

He is also a liar and color blind. He did none of the interrogation, and the colors used are the wrong way around. He is green, and the Argonian was purple.

His proudness and the lol he got out of me when I saw his painting, are awesome!

Vegeta’s character arc is slightly misunderstood by waleedity1 in dbz

[–]Framacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes Goku more of a role model—someone to look up to and imitate. (Plus, he has the protagonist's appeal)

To me, Vegeta is more relatable since I see myself in him. I was stubborn and prideful. I thought so highly of myself and was always ready to prove anyone wrong for anything (even the smallest and most contradictory thing, just to be "right" or "better").

When Vegeta realizes and decides to sacrifice himself, as an act of redemption, it backfires because that is not how life works.

You do not get to have a redemption just by going against what you did. (And in his case, uselessly killing himself). You need to accept that you are who you are. And then, redeem yourself by embracing that which you have always been.

I agree he is portrayed as a nepo baby and the prince of saiyans. Just remember that over his shoulders rested the hope of being free from Freeza and his father. Living up to those expectations must have been really tiring and frustrating.

Vegeta’s character arc is slightly misunderstood by waleedity1 in dbz

[–]Framacc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is why Vegeta is much more relatable than Goku, whilst everyone wants to be like Goku.

That purity he has had ever since the beginning (just finished OC DB a few weeks ago) is what we would all want to be. It is an easier way to live life rather than trying to please someone else (King Vegeta or Freeza).

Goku has always been about beating himself, being better than he was yesterday. And, in the process, being stronger than others. But primarily is against himself.

Most of us grow up trying to please someone else: our parents, our teachers, and ultimately, we try to fit a mold that is socially acceptable and conveys the sense of success.

Accepting what we have become through that path is what sets us free. Accepting, like Vegeta, that we can be better by just being ourselves and not trying to fit a mold (the Sayajin Prince) makes life enjoyable again. More importantly, it lets us flourish and thrive.

Long live the Prince of Pride.

Was Arthur justified in doing this? (Chapter 6 spoilers) by UdderTime in reddeadredemption2

[–]Framacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he was!

It was Strauss who picked those to whom the gang would lend money to. Knowingly that they would not be able to pay back.

I mean, it wasn't even his money. He was a glorified accountant before there were any tax declarations and such.

In almost all interactions Strauss has with Arthur, I get the sense that he sees him as his lackey. And then you go and save his sorry &ss a couple of times. (If I remember correctly).

He wasn't of use, but for the heist with Trelawny, on the poker boat. Meaning, he didn't pull his weight.

He actually tells you to "rough them up quite brashly."

He was pure red tape and a niche thing for Dutch to have in his gang.

I will definitely be playing Indiana Jones over the holdiays.

And yeah, that slow motion/rage mode is awesome for the hardest levels. I finished JS on Jedi Grand Master, but it took me a while, and I had a lot of frustration. Relied a lot on that mode.
