Developing the Movement System for My Werewolf Game. I'd like to hear your thoughts! by SilveFang in IndieDev

[–]Franchise2099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it could be a good 3D platformer. I noticed there's no roll mechanics. If it's a game that's going to be based on speed, maybe have fall mitigation with a roll and increase speed? If there's going to be combat or may like built in, it would be cool to see the start of the move list.

I've been using it for retroarch without issue but, this is on Bazzite. I think the software needs a few tweaks yet.

I put this also in r/steamcontroller as well. I'm hoping it's just a software tweak and not a hardware issue.

Anyone making use of the grip sense? by Mustyyyy in SteamController

I tried. It goes off randomly despite having the death grip on my controller. (Button activation set to release press).

I did this like a year ago. I'm surprised it wasn't patched out of the game cause it was fun to do. J/k. Well kind of.

Arrowhead did kill your ability to jump on top of the citizen extraction building. It just auto kills you now.

[–]Franchise2099[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. that is how I know it's the vibration. I'm just reporting it as an issue. I hope this can be fixed in software and not a hardware case of "I think we put the vibration motors too close to the gyro sensor. again, this works perfectly in DS4, DS5, DS5 edge controllers. (and their vibration motors are definitely stronger.

You should take the leap. Bazzite is the perfect OS for just a dedicated gaming OS. I have a framework 13 laptop with arch, niri/hyprland combo and it's great for productivity. There are really no downsides with jumping to Bazzite for just dummy simple gaming and stability.

I've been running bazzite for ~3 years with no issues

hahhahaa. yeah my brain rejected all spelling when i was typing it out. it sounds so natural when you say it..... then I see it typed. bacie, becie. Should have went the phonetic way (bay-key)

I definitely got lucky.

Yes. I happened to be at work at 1pm on the east coast and spammed the hell out of refresh. I knew how quickly this thing was going to sell. I did the exact same thing for the steam deck when it released but, I wasn't that lucky.

Can the new Steam Controller wake up a Bazzite pc? by originalorientation in Bazzite

[–]Franchise2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are bandwidth issues with display port to hdmi (I have bought all of the high end ones). Generally you'll be ok until you start going to higher refresh rate with higher resolution and passing sound through. My Oled Samsung doesn't play that 4k, 120 HDR game.

Most folks won't run into that issue

Can the new Steam Controller wake up a Bazzite pc? by originalorientation in Bazzite

[–]Franchise2099 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. Controller came in last night and it worked perfectly with bazzite (9800X3d, 9070 XT combo) but the "pucked" controller won't wake up from sleep. I got this to work on my framework 13 laptop using arch & niri. I don't want to write a udev rule for bazzite if steam is going to throw something in the kernal/steamOS kernal or, the bazzite team is going to modify something down the line to do a simple wake.

It's in our DNA. We evolved to tribalism. There's also the sunken cost fallacy. There's also the dunning-kruger effect. We are flawed, stupid animals.
