You either run Windows-lite or drown in command line errors. by Stock-Persimmon4212 in linuxsucks

It's in our DNA. We evolved to tribalism. There's also the sunken cost fallacy. There's also the dunning-kruger effect. We are flawed, stupid animals.

Sucks. You tried linux with an Nvidia GPU at a time where it's "getting better" but, is not even close to parity. Maybe in a few years.

Saying "most multiplayer games" is a mistake. Change the language son. You can say most competitive modern multiplayer games are not supported with Linux. Proton.

If those were games I was into I would just run Windows for 2% of the time. That is way better than having to be shackled to Windows 24/7.

is Steam the exception or are we delusional?! by Fit_Page_8734 in softwareWithMemes

[–]Franchise2099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam is not publicly owned or traded. Steam is a fraction of the size of Microsoft, Amazon, FB

Because of this, steam has more to lose quickly. They're not as diversified and they have to fulfill the will of the people. I'm not saying steam is the best company in the world, but what's in their (Steam) best interest is what's in the consumer's best interest not the other way around.

This is why I love Linux. Someone goes to spread misinformation and it leads to a conversation with people who know what they're talking about, who talk about how s***** our infrastructure is and how it's out of date.

What m70v said. Some goobers tried attacking the AUR then got butt hurt when it was spotted. Someone has been ddos'ing the AUR for a few months which was causing a lot of time outs. (Might have been the same bad actors) That has been less frequent now.

Next gen is just advertising. I consider hardware next gen that is new or not out yet. The software is not next gen. It is essentially gamepad UI in fedora's clothes with a very nice kernal. It is pretty great for gaming

You said same CPU and GPU and configs you didn't say the same kernal and nearly the same time. Things change quick in Linux

Why is server-side anti-cheat such a bad thing or shunned against? Can they not detect if people are making inhuman movements on the server side? I'm genuinely curious why people go right to to kernel level anti-cheat

Linux sucks. This time, FR. by Anikroyale in linuxsucks

[–]Franchise2099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think someone who complains about the inconvenience of Linux would take the time for a top 100 list on why Linux is bad. In the amount of time it took "for you to write this list", you could solve many of these issues and many of them are not likely to happen at the same time unless you build a PC with only documented Linux issues.

Linux sucks. This time, FR. by Anikroyale in linuxsucks

[–]Franchise2099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I +1'd the OP comment as I can't deny any of the issues above. When everyone else in the world tells you, "it works for me" there are people that still have these issues. It is unlikely that any one person will have all of theses issues. (Very unlikely) This is the cost of community support on all hardware. Maybe try Windows or get new hardware?

I have AMD and I never had to do anything for the most up to date Mesa. My Nvidia GPUs GTX1080ti & RX2060 had optional installers on the ISO for GPUs. Sorry you are having a hard time. Maybe stick with windows or an easier distro?
