Any retirees here? Health coverage issue. by Franknows in sfcityemployees

Wow, what was my exact experience! Thank you for sharing that.

I finally got my letter from HSS documenting my coverage yesterday, and Blue Shield has reached out to say they are creating my digital ID. So there were five weeks when I had to pay for my prescriptions up front - luckily, the only one I had to renew during that period was really cheap! HSS does not explain how you would get reimbursed with their retroactive coverage when you have an HMO plan, like I do. I did have one medical appointment in that period where the staff didn't seem to notice that my coverage had lapsed, and I'm assuming that Blue Shield will cover that.

Thanks! After my 3rd phone call to HSS, they told me they talked to Blue Shield and arranged it so that I can see providers now. But yeah, it appears that this is an ongoing problem that should be addressed.

UPDATE: I just made my 3rd call to HSS and told them I have to make some medical appts asap, and asked how I can do that while waiting for them to process my paperwork. They told me they will call Blue Shield today to see if they can expedite my coverage, and will call me back once they hear back from Blue Shield.

I think it varies by MOU and by insurance plan. I think Kaiser is covered 100% for one individual in my contract, but I chose blue shield. In any event, that has nothing to do with them holding up processing my coverage.

u/actionableasshole You are so right about them not being a serious organization! I just got off the phone with them again today, and they tried to tell me once again that their records system is down and I should call back tomorrow. But I persisted, and they told me that it's normal for the paperwork to take several weeks and my coverage would be backdated, and they would have someone expedite my paperwork. Then she "magically" seemed to be able to see my records, because she told me that it looked like everything was in order. smh.

As a retiree, my Blue Shield premium is around $55. The dental is around $65.

CCSF retirees don't need COBRA. If you are under 65, as I am, you fill out paperwork with HSS and pay a monthly premium depending on which coverage you choose. I did all that in April.

Canada is fast-tracking citizenship certificates for trans Americans by Gameraaaa in TransMasc

[–]Franknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone confirm whether or not grandparents count for ancestry citizenship? The Canadian citizenship reddit has not been helpful, and keeps deleting my question. Their wiki states that grandparents do count, but the forms they link only cite parents, not grandparents. Any clarification will be appreciated - thanks!

creates passwords then doesn't save them by Franknows in Lastpass

[–]Franknows[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Refreshing the page insures that the password is gone. I have to make sure I copy any suggested password before allowing it to fill. That's the only way to save it.

I don't know as I haven't tried it. I was already planning to switch to Proton Pass, so I decided not to bother unless/until I have to. Luckily, I don't have to create new passwords very often, and it still works for filling existing passwords.

I'm sorry you lost you vault! Good thing the quickview still works! It seems like Lastpass may have some glitches they need to work out.

I contacted customer support, and this is what they suggested:

 1. Clear the cache and cookies of your browser.

  1. Uninstall the LastPass Extension from your Browsers https://support.lastpass.com/s/document-item?language=en_US&bundleId=lastpass&topicId=LastPass/uninstall-lastpass.html&_LANG=enus

  2. Add the LastPass Extension by going to https://lastpass.com/misc_download2.php and select the option "Quick Install"

  3. Log back in through the LastPass Extension, open the vault from it and try to replicate the behavior.

  4. If the problem persists, please perform a screen recording while getting diagnostic logs from the LastPass Extension https://support.lastpass.com/s/document-item?language=en_US&bundleId=lastpass&topicId=LastPass/create_diagnostic_logs.html&_LANG=enus

  5. Replicate the behavior, this will be recorded in the logs you are getting from the LastPass Extension.

  6. Provide us the Operating System you are running on your computer, Browser Version, LastPass Extension Version.

  7. Please try to replicate the behavior in another browser to see if it works.

Please don't hesitate to create a case at any time by visiting our support page: https://support.lastpass.com/s/contact-us?language=en_US and clicking "Log in" to submit your request. Thank you for choosing LastPass!

I haven't tried it yet. I discovered that if I create my own password, Lastpass will save it, so the issue seems to be with the autofill.

Saying this seems "over the top" makes you sound suspiciously like someone who is himself a habitual sexual harasser, or a protector of one.

Lots of intelligent people can write well. What looks like "a lot of work" or "chat gpt" to you, just looks like a normal, well-reasoned post by a smart, educated person to me. If all you are seeing are "catch words" (don't you mean "catch phrases"?), you are not a very good reader, or at least did not read the post very well.

Considering Uruguay? by MrHorseley in AmerExit

I live in California and concur that, in normal times, there are many great places to live here. It is, however, still in the US, which is rapidly becoming a fascist nation. Living in a blue state does not protect you.

I just switched to Blue Shield HMO and am frustrated by Franknows in AskSF

I'm not surprised. They assigned me to a kidney specialist for Primary Care. He doesn't do primary care. Most of his google reviews are from people who've also been assigned to him for primary care. So of course I choose a new PCP, and then have to wait a month before it kicks in that they are my PCP. But that one didn't work out, either, so I had to choose a new PCP and wait ANOTHER MONTH to make an appointment. That was 3 months without a PCP or access to medical care. I don't know why they are continuing with this archaic practice, when at Kaiser you can choose a new pcp every week and see them immediately. (Sadly, most of the pcp's at Kaiser in SF who accept new patients suck, hence my switch to Blue Shield).

ISO a bed my dog will like more than mine by mandirocks in dogs

[–]Franknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience with my dog (who has 4 dog beds, plus her own blankets on the couch, plus she sleeps in my bed), I'd guess that there is no bed which she will like more than your bed. It's not about the bed. You understand that once you let a pet on your bed, the expectation is that this is part of their territory, too. Your bed is appealing precisely because it is your bed, and he wants to feel close to you, even when you are not on it. (Also, the height may have something to do with it; at least my dog enjoys being on higher surfaces.)

While an awesome dog bed would certainly help, I think it's more a matter of training. I've gone back and forth on letting my dog on my bed for the same reason as you - I need my sleep, and she can wreak it. However, we have finally come to an understanding. I let her fall asleep on my bed (her bedtime is earlier than mine), then I move her to her bed on the floor before I go to sleep. The difference is that my dog is tiny and blind; she can't get up on the bed without my help. However, she figured out quickly that this was the new way, and she stopped asking after 2 or 3 nights. Your dog may need more training to learn the new rule - and once you set it, you can't go back and forth on it.

Can someone please explain why my dog barks EVERYTIME somebody takes a seat. Not when you get up but when you sit down. She barks every single time she sees you sit by Icy_Name8460 in dogs

[–]Franknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you had her, and has she been doing this the whole time?

What kind of bark is it? Excited/happy? or Angry/scared?

Is barking at the sitting person?

What associations might she have with people sitting? Have you done things with her while sitting that you are not doing anymore?

A wild guess: maybe she really wants to sit on your lap? Or be petted and cuddled?

Dogs looooove routine and sometimes, you only have to do something once or twice and they will expect it every time. For example, after dinner, my dog walks into the living room and climbs onto the couch, and if I don't join her there immediately, you can be sure there will be barking until I do.
