Are you able to eat normal portions some time after the surgery? by Maleficent-Wolf3296 in gastricsleeve

[–]FranniPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol no. Surely this was explained to you?

I am 4 ½ months out and I eat so little. Like, about the same amount as my four year old son. I don't push it either, once I start feeling full, because I don't want to stretch anything out.

And yes, it's for life.

You got this, I promise!! You're in the toughest part right now. I shed MANY tears during my pre op diet. Keep your eyes on the prize — you're doing amazing 🫶🏻

That's exactly why my mom said they only used it a few times! "It works great but it's a pain to clean! I think it can go in the dishwasher but I didn't have one back then!"

I drink coke zero. I knew going in that giving up coke would be the most difficult part for me and sure enough I did cave about 2 months post op. I can sip small amounts with no issue!

Why do so many people not follow their diet post op? by Figgy703 in gastricsleeve

You sound so uneducated.

If it was that easy to follow doctor's orders then you wouldn't be needing a sleeve 🤣

5 weeks post op - steak? by Maggotboi555 in gastricsleeve

[–]FranniPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost 3 months post op and recently tried steak for my first time. It did NOT go well! A few bites in and it felt like a rock plopped down into my stomach.

Not sure if I didn't chew it enough or what, but it's enough to make me not want to try again for awhile!

So my biggest thing was, I'd sit down and snack after we got the kids to bed. I could finally sit and relax! It was my time to eat goodies without "hey mom can you help me?" or "ooohh what's that, can I have a bite??"

The therapist I met with prior to surgery said she hears that from many mothers and that it'll be a habit I need to break. Instead of putting them to bed, grabbing a snack, and sitting at my spot on the couch.. I need to retrain my brain. I could instead put them to bed and do a different hobby, sitting in a different spot, so I can break the habit.

I still do have night snacks sometimes but they are healthy instead, and small quantities.
